It has been quiet lately.
"Girlfriend" is growing on me, that's about all I have to say.

I haven't heard Sundblad in full, but I love Jordan Pruitt. Tisdale, McPhee and Baby V all have very high points ("He Said She Said", "Not Like That"; "Home", "Over It"; "Let Go", "Say OK") but a lot of filler too (Hudgens is 06 by the way).

I gave Avril a cigarette, or whatever my "songs I liked" title is this year. I think I'm doing dice this year? (I remember that Ashley Tisdale and Busdriver both have one die until further notice.) But the song isn't really doing it for me, partially because I HATE HER. I think she's a total phony baloney. Er, phogna bologna. Why should I give her props for trying way way way too hard for what Skye and Fefe Dobson do (for no love, esp. not Sunday yukyukyuk) and make it seem effortless?

The thing is, I don't like "Girlfriend" as an Avril song, because I don't like Avril. (Who was it who just said they never hear comments like that on the teenpop thread?) The video really set me back: it's every single stupid thing I hate about Avril, mixed together and slathered on top of the song. But the song, the song itself? Gets better every time I hear it. I'm a sucker for songs that sound like a mess the first time around, and suddenly make sense on the third or fourth. (See: Eurythmics.) I still stand by my comment that the song doesn't live up to the power of the instrumental at :09 or whatever., though.
Haven't made my way through the whole Vanessa Hudgens album, but so far not a moment of filler. The percussion on "Lose Your Love"? Or the self-referential bits of "Don't Talk"? More complex than most Disneypop, I think.

Well if you don't update Cure For Bedbugs more than once every ten days, of course things are quiet!
I was the only person to vote Brooke Hogan in either Pazz & Jop or Jackin' Pop!
Haven't read the Breihan, but in regard to "Give It To Me" I'm really upset at Timbaland for ruining Nelly F's best vocal and his best production of it with his own clumsyass vocals and dumb boringass disses. (And Timberlake was just a mannequin on that one. Sometimes the Timbo duo have their heads up their asses!)
Hey, Dave, even phony baloneys have feelings - or, more to the point, can convey and provoke feelings, which she does way better on "Unwanted" and "Mobile" and "Complicated" and "My Happy Ending" and "Sk8er Boi" and "Naked" than she does on "Girlfriend." "Girlfriend" is good anyway, and my real issue is with Luke (speaking of producers sabotaging themselves) for going so hard for the rock that he undermined the roll. The beats and bass are way too heavy. This should have been Little Eva and Bobbie Soxx & The Blue Jeans, instead it's big clompy '00s neoflump.
Things have NOT been quiet. Britney shaved her head! (And some bombs have been going off in Baghdad and shit.)

*smack* Baldney! I guess "things are quiet" really means "I'm bored and restless and yet I can't seem to update my blog more than once every ten days."
