Gimme Some Moe!

Gravatar LOL! I'm the "opposite:" I voted for Gore (and would again), but couldn't stomach Kerry and voted Bush in round 2. As awful as Bush is, I do think Kerry would have been worse. People say things couldn't possibly be worse, but that's silly. Of course they could.

I will vote Dem this time though -- or not vote. The choices are so blech.

Love that pic!

Gravatar Picking my jaw up from the floor.

Gravatar I think you made the right choice back then, Nat. I can't imagine Gore handling 9/11. Seriously can't imagine it. And I voted for him! Voted for Bush the second time - can't stand Kerry, myself!

Gravatar I voted for him too

He said he was compassionate, I believed him.

Dope

Gravatar Marie- You don't think that a man with actual military experience and international connections could have handled it? Furthermore, you think it was handled? Seems to me the responsible parties that didn't die while doing it are still on the loose, and we're holding a broken country that didn't have a damn thing to do with it in the first place. I personally can't believe that Gore would have screwed things up as bad as they have been.

And Nat, it sound like hubby's the one who should be apologizing!

Gravatar I try not to think of things in that way, since you rarely can predict what anyone will do in particular circumstances. How often do you hear, "He really stepped up" about a person performing some heroic deed? People often surprise us. I have no way of knowing how Kerry or Gore would have reacted on 9/11. I know America's Mayor performed quite admirably, but I still think he would have made a crummy president.

Gravatar What did he do that was admirable? He made some speeches, and he got snotty with an Arab prince who suggested that we look at our foreign policy - particularly our penchant for putting military bases all over the world - for the reasons behind the attack. Oh no, says Rudy. They didn't HAVE a reason. "They just hate freedom." Well, I consider that a simplistic, moronic answer, one that is entirely self-serving and accomplishes nothing of value. People don't do what the 9/11 guys did because they "hate freedom", they do it because they hate US, and seeking the true reasons is NOT the same as "blaming America first."

Furthermore, while NYC is not attacked by terrorists every day, there ARE emergencies there every day, so the lack of a reliable radio system with which the police and fire departments could co-ordinate their efforts was simply inexcusable in my opinion. So was the placement of the central office for such coordination efforts in the World Trade Center. It had already been attacked ONCE, with casualties and damage to the building, so putting that office there was pretty stupid IMO.

But I do agree he would have made a crummy President.

Gravatar Well, from what I observed from a distance, via TV, newspapers, etc., is how he went into immediate action in NYC. That's what I found admirable. He seemed to take command and get people moving to clean up, help those who needed it, etc. I'm not a resident of NYC, so I can't speak for them, but as a distant observer, he seemed to step up to the challenge.

I, too, am sick of the "they hate freedom" chant. Give me a break.

Gravatar I see what you mean, Nat, but I think that stuff would have been done with or without his photo ops. It was the minimum job to do, after all. If they did nothing else, they had to do THAT, so I really don't give him extra kudos for not being entirely useless, when his job was to be entirely useful.

BTW, I'm thinking of running for Mayor of Blogovia. I think it's time we had a Troll in office.

Gravatar i like the photo and your cool new signature.

funny thing about husbands and wives and politics. my husband didn't vote in 2004 because he hated kerry but couldn't bring himself to vote for bush. however, he told me he voted for kerry to keep me happy!

Gravatar ... Wow nat. Truth or Dare ? ... ha-ha. it's starting to look like Joe's old site here. No, ain't going there. Truth is I NEVER voted republican in my life. Both my parents were dyed in the wool Republican, Fundimentalist Christian, Consevatives ... ~ : ^ ( >

... Anyways, I wouldn't hold it against you. At least you have the integrity to own it and say you regret it. Obviously you wern't alone and even if he didn't actually WIN the election, it was close enough that he got away with it ...

... I know, I know, as I used to say to my Mom "We can talk about poitics and religion or we can be friends but not both." . So we were friends when she passed away. ...

... what am I rambling on about now ...

... Hang in there nat. Your ole man ain't never gonna change. Just drop the politics. After all, he ain't gonna be in that voting booth with you ... is he? ~ ; ^ ) >

Gravatar It's time.

Gravatar I'm ashamed of you. That is all. Actually I'm ashamed of all of America at this point. And at the way the primaries etc are turning out...I want my own island far far away from everywhere.

Gravatar Joe the Troll for Mayor!! Uh, there will be cupcakes at the rallies, right?

Gravatar one of my oldest & dearest friends voted for dumbya in 2000.it has always bothered me, and it got worse as the years and the lies went on. i just can't get how any intelligent person could do it. he looked like a moron right out of the gate, to me. he has certainly surpassed every non-expectation i had, and musch, much more.

Gravatar Well, Andrea and annie, I didn't make the same mistake the second time around. Too bad it didn't help.

I don't think he would have won without the huge Christian conservative vote, though, so I was outnumbered by them anyway.

But, Andrea, how can you be ashamed of America? I am not ashamed of those who exercised their right to vote, but am more ashamed of those who have that right but eschew it for whatever reason. Countless people have died for this right, and to say, "My vote doesn't count anyway," or "there's nobody I like to vote for," is just lazy. I may not agree with people who vote in opposition to my views, but I respect the fact that THEY VOTED!

Gravatar Tiny, good to see you. Yeah, Joe's old site was a hoot, especially that one poster, I forget the name, who was ALWAYS calling us "blackbirds."

Gravatar I'm ashamed that those who exercised their right thought that W was going to fix what he messed up. And right now I'm just ashamed of the whole country for many reasons....We are a nation of idiots that follow the pied piper...only he doesn't sound at all like Donovan

Gravatar nat..doesn't really matter if you voted for the clown-monkey in a blue state such as MA as he had no chance here anyway to pick up any electoral votes. your vote for him was a wash. Susan B. Anthony would kick your ass though.

Gravatar Paula- Of course! What's a political rally without cupcakes? The Soma is in the frosting.

Gravatar We all make mistakes. I didn't make that one, but I digress, as do you apparently
