Good analysis on Ron Artest. It's interesting, because most people wouldn't think of Ron Artest as such an inefficient player. Apparently, he does take more shots and gets the ball more often than I realized. His defense is superb though, and it's possible he just defers to everyone else while on the lakers.

Ariza is certainly a risk, but at 24, it seems like a proper risk to take for any team. Let's be honest though - without Ariza shooting 47% from 3-point land in the playoffs Ariza is only making half as much money. houston's banking on that development with that contract.

cleveland - yes, they've lost out on 3 players already, which is disappointing for cavs fans. it's easy to rationalize that with each miss it moves us closer to snagging two free agents in 2010. this year's free agency will move much slower though over the next week, as we move into the 2nd tier of free agents. kleiza (from denver), a. parker (from toronto, but 34), and matt barnes will all be mentioned. i'm pulling for matt barnes. this coming week should also see some interesting offers by a variety of teams for restricted FAs (d. lee, n. robinson, g. davis, and p. millsap) which should produce some interesting stories for ny, boston, and utah.
