You could always try ignoring him, aka not reading him. It's really easy and much less depressing. And if you ignore him, the Herald management will be disappointed at the lack of "controversy" (ie, people getting apoplectic over his patched elbow, tweedy superiority complex) and let him go off to help bugger up another national institution.

You'd be pissed off if your career (aka my really big dream) as a Brit. Art critic went belly up - return to OZ with tail between legs - alienate and kick some heads for a while at the SMH while performing for and sucking up to the neo con culturati. Score the big one (suspiciously fast tracked minus any quals.) at the ANG (curator of what???) - totally bugger that one up as well, set up an 'art' tie biz (after all, I AM good taste). down the gugler, sob, open up a 'new contemporaries' gallery, irrelevant and a bust, editor of an art magazine.. nobody reads it or cares - so now I'm back at the SMH !! - I blame you, you trendy artist poseurs for all this - no wonder I'm pissed.

I'm sure Johhny has list, a long list. Hopefully we'll get back to the good old days where he was duking it out with Mike Parr and John Nixon - someone started sending him cockroaches! Stupid entertainment but it was good stuff for his career. As nice as you may want to begin the relationship, dont forget who your dealing with - just like John Howard he's a great political strategist - he virtually had to create the cultural 'left' to set about denigrating it and make a name for himself.
