Gravatar Freezing my bits off in London at the moment, just caught a show called "The Kiss" at Spectrum-------here is thelink http://www.spectrumlondon.co.uk/...uk/ current.html

Whatever happened to the kiss----dead on guys!

Gravatar sorry that post should be in the next thread.

Gravatar joseph emmanuel psegianniakis...get over yourself!

Gravatar Wild Boys are pretty creepy. Is transgression now measured by having bad breath and a constant hard on, or is that just a queer state of being.

Gravatar I have a studio in Hibernian and was bemused by your description of both the building and the show. Perhaps you haven't spent enough time there, because if you had you would realise that that place is the crux of a burgeoning movement, in all terms creative. There are writers, painters, sculptors, musicians, singers, stained-glass makers, craftsmen, and storytellers, creating a myriad of amazing work. The creativity is apparent in every wall of that building, it oozes it. There is one man who has built a prototype for a recycled self-sustainable community in his studio, he literally has a forest in his loungeroom, did you know that? there are people creating stuff constantly, at every hour of the day or night, and i feel that it's a privilege to be involved in any small way with that building. Nothing else exists like it in Australia; in fact i've been hard pressed to find it anywhere in the world.
I hope you somehow experience the magic of Hibernia, either in a singular fashion or through the royal "we" that you adopt in your missives.

Gravatar Our apologies to Joseph, we were told someone lived in the space and it was a gallery for the length of the WB show. A misunderstanding on our part. As for the rest of the building - it really needs to be tidied up if you want to get a grant.

Gravatar Offending text now fixed.

Gravatar bad breath, constant hard-ons...you forgot to mention epilady and linda jackson fabrics...now THAT's transgressive.

Gravatar read some great first hand accounts from the Wild Boys opening on their blog

http://www.livejournal.com/commu...ty/thewildboys/

Gravatar hi,thanksfor the writeup of our show .i think its a pretty accurate description of what we are doing. sorry for being so glum when you came in , i dont remember the exact reasons but i wasnt having the best day! you are right about what you saw, me photographing the models tim at the computer, thats exactly what we would expect you to see, just like any day at the office or in the gallery, people doing theur thing. so you put your fingr on it ,'not much to see in the traditionjal sense" you elaborate else wheree in your review, thats a happening - whats going on at that moment in the gallery, doing, being, making etc . the hapless visitor is challenged to think in another way, not to look for trad objects.

theres also the social element, we are a group of friends and not a curated set of artists under a thematic who may never have met. its an extention of our lives as artists, gay men, friends, a concentrated moment where we work intensively together and work in a way thats different to our normal separate practices , making it up as we go along, bouncing off each other, blurring individual authorship

check out Lucas Ihleins review, its copied to the wild boys live journal.

Gravatar Just a small thing about The Wild Boys…

Although I sadly missed the opening, I still had a rather trippy experience during my last visit to the sun-drenched space at 5.40 on a Wednesday afternoon. Despite my unfortunate ignorance of queer cultural references (I guess I’m not ‘fabulous’ enough (*noted in jest*)), I was still seduced by the space. The objects which you so casually list (‘models, paper, cutouts, fluoro lights, a TV wrapped in yellow plastic, drawings, sewing projects, piles of records…’) seemed to brim with life and quiet movement (as I commented on my blog). (Sounds like I was on E, but I swear I wasn’t! *LOL*)…

I might have a different perspective on the piece after I attend the closing, but for now I think the space works well in a deliciously organic way without the congestion of ‘hip and hot’ human traffic

Gravatar Well Bejane,
If the first paragraph of Art Lifes post re The Wildboys and the lift is true then you lot at Hibernian need to buy a mop and bucket, some disinfectant, paint and clean that lift up. What a pack of grots you are ! And as for the Graffiti!!!!
Sounds to me like the entrance to a place of loosers, misfits and unimaginative art types who never made it and never will!
I for one hope that you know for a fact that "nothing else exists like it in Australia".
PS....Glen 20 is on special at Woolies this week.

Gravatar we are the misfits our songs are better we are the misfits and we're gonna get ya

Gravatar See Lucas Ihlein's review on our lifestyle choices on the wild boys journal and his journal fabulous journal bilateral linked under artists/blogs

Gravatar I love the way you write and yr review of the wild boys mirrored my experience spookily

Gravatar i'm sorry, but is watching a bunch of wasters and masturbaters get their shit together (how literally, i'm not sure) really art!!! it may be very admirable to challange peoples conceptions about art away from a commodified object - but who are these guys talking to? Is there an audience? or just a lot of pissed off people?

It sounds like what's going on isn't neccessarily invalid, but it's a dialogue between the participants - as opposed to a dialogue between the artists and an audience. I just don't get why you need to invite people in to that shit - exhibitionism, a cheap appeal to voyeurism?

help me out here guys and explain to me one more time: what the fuck is it you are doing......

Gravatar Speaking of grots, mops and buckets, I wonder what is the most environmentally friendly method of disposing of art materials such as dirty mineral turpentine.

Gravatar Reusing Paint Thinners, Turpentine, Mineral Spirits and Solvents:
Paint thinners, turpentine, mineral spirits, and solvents can be reused. These products, like solvent-based or alkyd paints, should not be emptied into storm sewers, household drains (especially if you have a septic tank) or on the ground. Reuse these types of products.

REUSE STEPS:
1. Put used turpentine or brush cleaners in a closed container and leave it in a safe place until the paint particles settle to the bottom.
2. Pour off the clear liquid into an empty, clean container which has a lid for reuse.
3. Add an absorbent material such as cat box filler, shredded newspaper or sawdust to the remaining residue.
4. Let this residue dry completely before disposing of it in your regular trash.

No matter how you make use or dispose of your leftover paint, remember-never contaminate it by pouring anything else into the can!

Gravatar dear felix our audience isnt you

Gravatar good, 'cause i wouldn't have wanted to feel unwanted if i'd come to your 'show'

felix

Gravatar now Felix, if you'd be so kind, could you justify your opinion to me and why I should be bothered with it? ie who the fuck cares what you think?

Gravatar funny how snarky people can be while remaining anonymous on a blog??
as for our show, while we're shelling out for the gallerist's rent, I figure we can be as invalid as we please... but unless you check it out how would you know?

Gravatar i agree, who says anyway
not very felix

Gravatar ok guys,
i confess, i really have seen your show, and as you are inviting members of the public to it - sorry guys, but i am your audience - that's just the way it is, and all the reason you need to hear out my comments.

So bimmelbimmel, please don't trot out that old 'we're paying' excuse, when you've invited me to your space (through mardi gras propaganda etc etc) Everyone who's an artist pays for shows at one time or another (and in one way or another).

You are right, you can be as invalid as you like - but i didn't think you were actually trying to be. Please correct me if that is indeed your intention. While you're at it remind me of who you're audience is - who is it you are dialoguing with?

Gravatar valid, invalid, i just don't know any more
mardi gras 'propaganda'?? perhaps if they'd left in the bit about stefanie powers you wouldn't have come and wasted your time.

Gravatar waste my time, boreme, invalidate me yes yes yes go for it felix

Gravatar "mardi gras propaganda" - says it all really

Gravatar dear felix - please go to Photographer Bunny Star's website to see what it is we are actually doing.. http:// www.thechoklatfactory.com...bumName=album14
..this was our little art do last saturday!! Makeup by Miss 3D - hope you like what you see! xx

Gravatar I'm with you, Felix.
This is just the self-obsessed, self-referential dross that always surfaces during mardi gras.
Blagh.

Gravatar ain't living a "happening"? coz i could do with a bit of cash to float that particular project.
My house is clean,no offensive smells, i'm not gay, but some people think i'm strange.

Gravatar clean straight inoffensive, i'm not coping with that

Gravatar odd boys always turn me on

Gravatar Funny how this thing started off as anrgument about whether WB's was artistically 'valid' and now it's a pick up joint with cleaning tips. How queer.

Gravatar Artlife, you haven't posted a new topic for days, you bl**dy b*st*rd(s), I'm going crazy. Quickly, quickly!

Gravatar despite the incessant bitching that seems to go on with the facilitator and his paying artists (not to mention on this blogspace!) wildboys managed to get wilder than ever and may i thank them for all their effort in hosting two very amazing parties and keeping the work in process alive.

hibernian reminds me alot of tacheles artspace in mitte, berlin with way less grafitti (more is more) and in *true* deconstructionist style, the wildboys have touched on dada and dragged it up to boot. no *cleaning up* required

congratulations tim richard and trevor and thanku again for creating such fagulous fodder for my photo fetish... i look fwd to the next WB instalment

Gravatar "The beauty of Outsider Art is that it confounds conventional aesthetics. Flourishing in blithe disregard of the stipulations of pundits and pedants, it wriggles out of the clutches of definition at the same time as it imposes its own priorities." Roger Cardinal

Gravatar If the artlife died would anyone notice?

Gravatar yep u have already thought about it werx...so u would notice and i would....that makes two of us so far.
