i got that "epiphany" sort of why-haven't-i-ever feeling a couple of times last week. posted about both of them roundaboutly on my blog.
1. why have i not read seamus heaney? i read his nobel lecture from 1995 yesterday and thought i was going to die it was so heavenly. i posted a poem he quotes and just love it.
2. i heard some beautiful piping at the coronado last weekend when riverdance was here. i loved the show, of course, but there was one number on the uillean pipes that took my breath away. it reminded me of the stab of joy / sehnsucht that lewis talks about in SURPRISED BY JOY.
read some of bunn's early stuff. my wife's a big fan!
I highly recommend you read the Song of Acadia series, which was co-written by T. Davis Bunn and Janette Oke.
