It was great of Jason to share his perspective. I'm looking forward to reading more from him.
And thank you, Cindy, for your grain of salt and ray of light. I totally enjoyed reading this interview.
With such a wide variety of Christian blogs, I'm interested in hearing how people determine what their niche will be. Do some start their blogs with a clearly defined focus while others allow their direction to evolve as they find their voice? Do some start out with one niche and change course later?
It's interesting to hear about blogging from bloggers.

Cindy, Thanks so much for publishing this interview on-line. I thoroughly enjoyed reading both Jason's and your perspectives.
I'm musing over starting a Christian blog, with some of my own interests therein (knitting and spinning - I read somewhere that aside from dieting, knitting is the second largest blog topic), and maybe photos of our home business. We sell gaited mountain horses, and our business name is Gaits of Grace. That's how I registered at blogger: gaitsofgrace.blogspot.com, but don't have my first post up yet.
So I dunno. I wonder too if all those interests are too weird a combination. Will it take too much time away from my family? Will I be able to be creative on a somewhat regular basis? Will the only person to comment on my blog be my mom? I just dunno.
So this interview has given me much food for thought. Thank you.

Susan, blogging actually takes up very little of my time...usually no more than 15 or 20 minutes a day. (Posting my interviews takes longer, because I transcribe them from audio.)
People with political and news-oriented blogs no doubt spend more time on theirs, because they have to be somewhat up-to-the-minute. The way I look at it, I do the news on the radio, not on my blog. If there's something in the news that really grabs me, then I'll blog about it.
Susan, I would almost suggest having a website for your business, with a link to your blog on the website. The blog could then focus on knitting and spinning, but you could throw in your own random thoughts on other stuff if you wanted.
I didn't consider a "niche" when I started my blog. I just looked at it as a fun place to write and have others read what I write. I don't want to be too restricted about what I post about; my blog really is a potpourri of stuff. all filtered through my own conservative Christian point of view.

Thanks, Cindy, for your suggestions. Someone at our church is working on developing a website for our business at the moment. I tried to develop one when I was home with a newborn, but she won out (and still is) in sucking up my time and energies, so the site never made it on-line. I like your thoughts about thoughts too Just a fun place to write and not be too restricted. Filtered through my conservative Christian point of view. Your encouragement is infectious as well. If I were in your area, I'd listen to you on radio. Will letcha know if our website and blog ever makes it out there.
