The democratic candidate will need to take every state that Kerry took in addition to Ohio. Virginia is starting to trend blue as well as some western states with large Hispanic populations who won't be voting republican. A Florida pick up would be nice. If the democrats can hold what they have and gain a couple more, the electoral clout of the Old Confederacy is old school.

What Fox doesn't seem to be addressing (while MSNBC and CNN are) is the rising candidacy of Mike Huckabee who is polling well in Iowa and who might throw this whole primary thing into a tailspin. What Fox doesn't seem to be addressing is the notion that the first two primaries are a "catapult" and if Rudy doesn't win these two contests (and he's not polling well) he won't have much momentum. Huckabee could very well take the southern delegates while the rest would be divided between Romney and Rudy. This could actually be decided at the convention. But Fox doesn't like to show a fractured GOP so you won't hear much about this. BTW, while Fox is doing missing white women and coked out Hollywood "starlets," MSNBC is doing politics all day. You'd think that Huckabee would be popular on Fox; but Fox's family values are subordinate to a Rudy presidency.

Why is socialism considered such an evil menace - guess now that Communism is old school....And Biden shares many of Hillary's "socialistic" views. George Will has an interesting view:
An Obama victory in Iowa might be initially injurious to Romney, but beneficial to him four days later in New Hampshire. If Romney, who leads in Iowa, wins there and Obama beats Clinton, the latter story will overshadow the former. But an Obama win in Iowa would radically raise the stakes of the Democrats' New Hampshire primary. Independents there can vote in either party's primary. In 2000, they flooded into the Republican contest, dooming Bill Bradley's challenge to Al Gore and propelling John McCain to victory over George W. Bush, who won the Republican portion of that primary. If this time independents are drawn to the Democratic primary, that will hurt not just McCain but also Giuliani, whose strength with independents supports his claim of superior electability.
http://64.233.169.104/search?q=c...clnk&cd=1&
gl=us
Thus, an Obama win in Iowa could impact the republican New Hampshire primary due to the independents who might vote in the democratic primary.

Whoops, Hillary has already lost Florida:
Florida 2008 Presidential Election
In Match-ups with Clinton, Florida Voters Now Tilt Toward GOP
Monday, November 19, 2007
A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of the presidential race in Florida shows former Big Apple Mayor Rudy Giuliani with a modest lead over Senator Hillary Clinton of 46% to 41%. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney leads the former First Lady 46% to 39%. Former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson has a nine point edge 47% to 38% while Arizona Senator John McCain leads by ten, 48% to 38%
These numbers flip the scenario Rasmussen Reports witnessed in an August poll of the race in Florida. Then, Clinton enjoyed a five-point edge on Giuliani and double-digit leads over Thompson, McCain, and Romney. Another change: today a lot more voters prefer a third option and express support for Some Other Candidate.

Don't need Florida as I explained earlier on the thread. Clinton is still polling ahead of Rudy in Ohio and that's a key state where people ain't too pleased about their economic situation. And this time, the voting booths will not be suspect as Ohio has a democratic governor.

Your name-calling is getting annoying, not to mention making you look like -- to use your term -- a partisan hack.

Namecalling? What is this? Grammer school? People get fired up and passionate about what they are discussing, and if they use "colorful" language, so be it. Both sides use it, some to instigate, others to retaliate. As long as George Carlin's"Seven Bad Words you can't say on TV" aren't over used, stop patronizing.

Steve, we are certainly capable of responding like you "suggested" and most of us do. The point was made, however, of the passion of the discussion and some of us tend to get fired up and use such language or comments. With Hillary you get a TWOFER . . We get BILL BACK!!
That is exactly why Hillary will never get elected! Bill never carried a majority of the popular vote. Without Perot, he'd still be the governor of Arkansas. With Bill, Hillary carries a lot of baggage. Why any woman would consider to vote her just because he is a woman is beyond me. If she had left Bill, I could see it. Most of America sees Hillary for the political operative she really is.

Real Jack, the terrorists don't give a shit either way..that's why they're terrorists. If terrorism was such a big deal back during Clinton, why didn't the Republican Congress, since 1995, believe or make terrorism a huge issue? Clinton enacted an Anti Terrorism bill in 1996..the key word in there being "terrorism"

My point was, Fake Jack seems to think Clinton never won the popular vote, that he has Pee-row to thank for winning both elections . . .
That may have been true to a degree in '92, but in '96
- Clinton won 379 electoral votes to Dole's 159
- Clinton won 47 million-plus votes to Dole's 39 million
- Clinton carried 31 states {plus DC} to Dole's 19
Pee-row had NO electoral votes and carried NO states . . . so if Fake Jack thinks Clinton owes Perot for his win in '96, I have some swampland in AZ for sale . . .

Fascism is all about loyalty to the state. Why you leftists seem to think it has anything to do with corporatism is beyond me.I guess none of you have ever bothered to look up the definition of fascism before.
Posted by: Robert Livingstone
--------
Following up on what was said in Free Speech's 10:58am comment, you are dead wrong with regards to fascism and corporatism.
Corporatism IS indeed a facet of fascism. From the 14 defining characteristics of fascism:
#9) Power of corporations protected. Although the personal life of ordinary citizens was under strict control, the ability of large corporations to operate in relative freedom was not compromised. The ruling elite saw the corporate structure as a way to not only ensure military production (in developed states), but also as an additional means of social control. Members of the economic elite were often pampered by the political elite to ensure a continued mutuality of interests, especially in the repression of “have-not” citizens.
10) Power of labor suppressed or eliminated. Since organized labor was seen as the one power center that could challenge the political hegemony of the ruling elite and its corporate allies, it was inevitably crushed or made powerless. The poor formed an underclass, viewed with suspicion or outright contempt. Under some regimes, being poor was considered akin to a vice.
"By definition, corporate rule of government is the key characteristic of fascism. Mussolini himself, one of the first fascist dictators, revealed this when he said, "Fascism should rightly be called corporatism as it is
a merger of state and corporate power."
