Donna, do you have the tape of the whole show? Reason I ask is that I flipped briefly to Fox during an MSNBC commercial (they are doing all day, on site coverage of the Iowa caucuses) and the fiends were talking to Donald Trump who said that the US invaded the wrong country. The fiends looked uncomfortable and went to a commercial.

Trump did say that we went into the wrong war and that Roger Ailes wouldn't like him saying that.
Given all of the pundits (even the ones that work on Fox) that have spoken ill of the war, I don't think it is a big deal.
That did occur at the very end of the show (8:57 EST or so). And if someone said something negative about your boss in a TV interview, what would you do in response?

This is a blog - not a national TV "News" network purporting to be "fair and balanced." As such, we are free to debunk and deride as much as possible. What is it about satire that you wingers don't understand. Ever see the Daily Show and Colbert? Hope not, you wouldn't like it. Yes, but Huckabee's populist streak is very threatening to the monied elite FOX really speaks for. They want Rudy but can live with Mitt. The fact FOX viewers modally support Huckabee is another example of the GOP leading the believers around by the nose. This primary campaign may fracture that coalition for good and GOP promises undelivered are an axis of attack the Democrats should exploit in the GE.

She probably does have the best chance of seducing former Republicans aside from the youngest voters over to the Democratic side. However, I really wonder if she loses more independents and those on the left than she picks up from the center.
Obama is a wildcard. He represents what may become an enduring line of intergenerational political cleavage which I think is badly needed. Too many domestic policy issues are turning into forcing the young to pay benefits for the old. As with Bush's unbridled war spending on the national credit card, young voters need to participate before the boomers pick their pockets clean. They'll have enough problems maintaining their standards of living in the face of global competition, surging health care costs, the retreat of defined benefit plans, and stagnant real wages in aggregate, etc.

The GOP has largely destroyed itself by losing their fiscal discipline and core constituency among non-ideologues, invading Iraq for what most now see as no good reasons, and becoming such an obvious stooge for K Street lobbyists at the expense of the people. Todd knows his stuff. That's usually how it goes in change elections. The old competition for the median voter, an effort to outmiddle the opponent, really doesn't work anymore in this era defined by tremendous ideolgical distance between the parties. Ahhh. You've just explained unintentionally why senators don't get elected to the WH and governors do. If you were a governor, like Reagan or Clinton or Bush or Romney or Huckabee, you don't have to commit to any positions and can campaign pretending you're all things to all people because you have no record. Obama's limited legislative experience is, in some ways, something that works to his advantage. But you fail to comprehend that most congressional votes aren't decisive and positions are taken usually to show support for supportive interests or constituencies. So not not voting isn't really an issue except for when tight votes come up on important issues. And no one misses those.

Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton - born October 26, 1947...
Idiot conservative humanoids - whose reign has been a disaster for this nation over the last 8 years...
... yeah, let's take an embarrassingly juvenile cheap shot at a woman's appearance who's in her friggin' 60's. Right up there when that other loudmouth conservative loser - fat, bald, sweaty, greazy melon head - Limbaugh, called 12 year old Chelsea, "the WH dog".
Classy!
That's conservative "punditry" for you on Fox "News". And you know what?
- Who's this humanoid "Doocy" to talk? He's the last idiot on the planet to be critical of someone else's appearance. Like this clown is gonna be the centerfold in Playgirl anytime soon.
- If you want to get into irrelevant discussion about "looks", especially of an older woman...fact is, Hillary looks just fine for a woman who's 60 years old. Betchya she looks waaaay better than your conservative idiot wife at age 60.
- In fact, by virtue of the fact she has all her teeth, she looks better than nearly all the conservative chicks 1/2 her age...
If you think childish cheap shots like idiot "Doocy" made are somehow helping the "conservative cause", think again. This country is absolutely disgusted with so-called conservatism which has become synonymous with "having no class" (as illustrated by Doocy's comments, which are all to typical in conservative punditry), stupidity, incompetence, cowardace, and failure. This country can't wait - is chomping at the bit, to throw these despicable arse-clowns out of power and to forget this whole disgraceful sorry episode, over the last eight years, of AMerican history.

This is a tactic they've used in the past - place an agitator in the crowd to cause a problem then stand back and say "see how they are!"
Problem is, in an age when the right (and left) have no reluctance whatsover to do anything underhanded (witness the behavior of the loathsome POTUS) it's very easy to load forums with troll droppings (made up personas aka "troll sockpuppets" posting pretend comments) disguised as real people. Unless they perform outright spoofing this tactic can be undetectable. Yet another reason we must remain the land of the free and BRAVE - something trolls, neocons, and the reactionary right are NOT.

Duncan Hunter can barely reach 1% in the polls. Ron Paul has polled higher than Fred Thompson yet Thompson was invited to join the Fox news Debate and Paul wasn't. From Fox news' own website:
FOXNEWS.COM: RON PAUL, THE REAL REPUBLICAN?
Ron Paul has a core set of principles that guide him. They happen to be the same principles envisioned by the framers of the U.S. Constitution: limited government, federalism, free trade and commerce -- with a premium on peace.
For the few of us who still care about limited government, individual rights, and a sensible foreign policy, Paul's candidacy is terrific news.
Paul's presence in the race is important because he'll put issues on the table *that would otherwise be completely ignored*.
His presence in the primary debates alone will make them far more substantive and interesting than they've been in a generation.
Ron Paul can reliably and credibly serve as the party's conscience.
Paul's bona fides on immigration, abortion, federalism, constitutionalism, and limited government will win him credibility with and respect from primary voters, giving him leverage to take principled stands.
Paul can credibly lay claim to the legacy of the Reagan-Goldwater revolution.

FOXNEWS.COM: Ron Paul Collecting Fans, Big Money
WASHINGTON — Those who dismissed Rep. Ron Paul as a joke in the Republican presidential primary campaign aren't laughing so hard these days.
The Texas libertarian's rise in the polls and in fundraising proves that a small but passionate number of Americans can be drawn to an advocate of unorthodox proposals such as returning to the gold standard and abolishing the income tax, CIA and Federal Reserve.
Paul recently set a one-day, online GOP presidential fundraising record, and pulled slightly ahead of Fred Thompson and Mike Huckabee in a New Hampshire poll. In Iowa, he tied John McCain.

people always seem to make their minds up about who to vote for - and then thatsw it - i would never vote for hillary they say
but... lets have a scenario - lets say huckabee gets the republican nomination, and lets say bloomie doesnt run - that leaves a hillary / huckabee / race - im definatly voting for hillary in that case
lets say romney wins (lets remember how proudly romney touted his endorsement by everyones favorite racist tom tancredo) and bloomie doesnt run - so its a romney / hillary race
im definatly voting hillary
but lets say its a romney / hillary / bloomberg race - im voting bloomburg in a heartbeat
if its a huckabee / hillary / ron paul goes independant race - im voting for ron paul
the race is fluid - it would be wrong for me to say i would never vote for hillary - but it would take something like a scary huckabee presidency to make me do it
everything in perspective

Say what you mean. You guys don't like him because he actually has the balls to publicly criticize the person most Americans see as THE WORST President we've ever had, George W. Bush. Fox News doesn't like that he gets so much support and applause at Republican Debates.
If you want to continue to support the cross-dressing Republican who has been married 3x, including a marriage of 14 years to his own cousin, that's your prerogative. :)

WHY do you suppose he has been winning Republican Debates? Because they are not valid polls?
WHY do you suppose he has broken Republican fundraising recrods? Money doesn't always win. Ask Howard Dean.
WHY are his fellow Republicans saying that HE is the real Conservative? He is more libertarian than conservative.
WHY is he polling higher than other Republican Candidates if he is so wrong for your Party? What are his national numbers? 4-5% maybe?

Although I would prefer to avoid another Clinton White House, the misogyny of Fox is appalling. If someone has a problem with Hillary's voting record or policy platform, (like me), that's fine, but attacking her for being a woman reveals much more about the people doing the bashing then it does about Hillary.

So, ana, I'll let you do the wooing (just don't tell my wife).
My chief concerns are
1) While I understand politicians say things they don't always really mean in order to get votes (hence, I read between the lines on what Hillary says) I have a huge problem with people like McCain who go running to extremists, namely the radical right University he originally criticized. Likewise, wasn't it McCain who should've but did not chastise the woman who called Hillary a 'bitch'?
2) Can McCain reign in the radical right which seems to be what the right has become? I have a real problem voting for any Republican nowadays, even though I know it's not McCain's fault.
3) I liked the Clinton era. I can't see why it won't be about the same with Hillary.

yes he should have - but is that enough to let a presidency fall?
2) Can McCain reign in the radical right which seems to be what the right has become? I have a real problem voting for any Republican nowadays, even though I know it's not McCain's fault.
i thnk he is the only man who can at the moment - he is not an idealist

on 3) I agree.
I have felt the country is actually best served when Congress is controlled by one party and the Presidency by another. Thus a Dem Clinton and a Rep Congress seemed to be working somewhat. However, that has changed with the extreme partisanship hence Dems, besides being weaklings, can't get anything done due to obstructionism. At this time, I would like to see the Dems in charge of two of the three branches just to try to undo the damage of this idiot we have now.
Case in point: Until Bush became President I would never, even in casual conversation, call the Prez an idiot. And I went through the Reagan years!

I agree with most of radmod's post, but the problem I have with McCain is his repeatedly caving to the neocons.
I lost respect when McCain embraced Bush after the fiasco in the Carolinas.
I became disgusted when McCain folded for the White House on torture.
And all respect was gone when I read that McCain has more lobbyist support than any other candidate, Rep or Dem, despite holding himself forth as being for campaign finance reform.
I think McCain would say or do anything to be president, and I don't want a leader who goes which ever way the wind blows. I want a leader who has the courage of their convictions, takes a stand and defends it. I don't think McCain has the courage.

ana coachella,
Probably but what the RNC needs is another crushing defeat in 2008. They didn't join the reality based world when they lost the House, the Senate and the majority of Gov. Only when they have lost the Presidency will they rejoin the normal folks.

I have a tendency to believe Robrob is correct.
The pattern of history tells us that things tend to be pendulum-like swinging from right to left and back again but tending, overall, to settle nearer to the middle each time. The right needs a crushing defeat and 8 more years of a "damned" Clinton to move back towards the center (the correct place, IMHO).

Wonder if the Fiends will ask why Rudi9/11 wasn't in Iowa?
Giuliani only no-show in Iowa
By Claudia Parsons
Thu Jan 3, 3:23 PM ET
BEDFORD, New Hampshire (Reuters) - Rudy Giuliani was the only leading White House hopeful not in Iowa on Thursday as voters there kick off the process of choosing the next U.S. president, but he said he was not worried about missing it.

Just curious...with all the talk of who would be the BEST President in 08, who do you all think would be the WORST President for 08?
I think it would be (in order)...
1. Fred Thompson (hates women and is old enough to have quite possibly been a Klan member/supporter back in the 1950s, in his Deep South.)
2. Mitt Romney (lies out of both sides of his mouth and looks like a classic used car salesman with his greased-down hair and fake smile).
3. Rudy Guiliani (best exepemplifies the typical neo-con, plus has 9.11 "on the brain").
4. Hillary, yes Hillary (She is a complete and total Washington insider an also has very little if any foreign policy experience as a Senator from New York).
This is opinion of who's worst, who do you all think of would be the worst?

mj 7:30...Tim Russert today said that Rudy being a no show in Iowa will severely hurt his chances in New Hampshire...and that if Rudy places 5th in the Granite State, he will be forgotten by the media, entirely out of the media cycle, and from that point on it's just a doomed campaign.

And you are right in doing so Michelle. But the Hill and Bill show has nothing to do with sexism, and everything to do with people sick and tired of the status quo in Washington. But, bowing down the fact that only an anti-American criminal can be elected to the highest office in America, I'm willing to go with Hillary on the condition that Bill uses his influence to extract some payback.
