the employer somehow assisted Quintero get back into the country after he was deported for a crime
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
LAURA: "I'm sure that you have a thing or two to say to politicians in Washington who continue to defend what is absolutely a broken border . ."
'broken border'??
How? Appears the employer aided the Mexican to 'illegally' re-enter and walk across the border. The Mexican didn't RUN across the border and jump the fence; hence the problem is with crooked employers, and hence, you follow the money with the lawsuit!
So it also appears politicians have laws in place so that victims' families can be monetarily compensated in these cases.
there isn't just crime on Fox it's always "Mexican crime" "black crime" etc. Fox is no different than the neo nazi sites like stormfront
I heard there was a white guy that killed some lady and was legally murdered in MI yesterday.
Why don't we go out and start figuring where all these "white guys" came from and start shipping them back to where they or their ancestors came from.
How bloody ass ridiculous. Get a rope!! Hang 'em high!
moron bitch!
Here's one for you. The Mexican government is at war with the drug cartels down here south of the border.
How about the US assist them monetarily and militarily to help combat this cancer. We could take the money from the phobic-brick wall and put it where it would actually do some good.
While reading this post it makes one ponder if US citizens have ever committed any crimes in other country's around the world?
Any young Okinawan girls raped by US servicemen?
Perhaps not reporting on it makes it not so.
-
This is absolutely a bunch of tripe! The fact that Illegal immigrants--NOT IMMIGRANTS do not commit as many crimes as citizens and permanent residents is superfluous. Illegal immigrants committed a crime, in the first place when they entered America illegally? legal people in this nation know that their own commit criminal acts, but if their were not an estimated 38 million illegal aliens in our country today, many cramming our prison system. Then that would be 356.000 we are feeding and housing in cells across the country would not be a burdened to taxpayers? Details at NUMBERSUSA.
Any crime is a tragedy, but according to Fake Newz, the crimes are only committed by Mexicans and Negros.
Yep. The way faux news reports it, one would think that was true. Well, apparently the faux mindless viewers believe that anyway.
So, let's just replace the Statue of Liberty with a giant Athena and a new motto, "We're free, you're not. Go away."
Unless its a crime committed by a Republican, then they are identified as a Democrat, ie Mark Foley
Joslyn Johnson, the widow of a cop murdered by an illegal immigrant, and her attorney; they are suing the accused's American employer.
Good for them! If the employer somehow stupidly assisted Quintero in getting back into the country AFTER he was deported for a previous crime, then the employer deserves to be sued. I hope Mrs. Johnson and her attorney are successful.
This is just another perfect example of using a wedge issue to help feed the hate.
No matter what side of this issue you are on, nothing is going to change. The rich are not going to give up their gardeners, maids and farm workers.
The term guest worker program sounds like something from one of those ridiculous focus group studies, on what can we call this so the wealthy can keep their cheap labor, while hoping the haters aren't paying attention.
A lawsuit working against illegal immigration.
That'll have the necons losing sleep.
All part of their hate mongering agenda. It's not easy to get even obvious idiots to vote against their own interests, against the interests of their children and against their beloved country, but xenophobia provides just the right impetus.
How do you say it.....Oh, I know, "Fear is the Key".
I'll do my best to try to stay on topic of illegal immigrants. I believe it a serious issue, but don't claim to have the definitive answer. Let me preface by referring to the official 9/11 Commission report. It just Erkel's my Stevies that this administration has not complied or much furthered any of their primary 'do it now' findings. With regard to in country initiatives. Has security been enhanced at chemical or power plants? Find the recommendations here: http://www.gpoaccess.gov/911/pdf.../ fullreport.pdf Border control has not been sufficiently addressed. There are current laws in place that are not being enforced. Corporate agri-business (farm laborers) and meat/poultry packing industry are the major scofflaws. Certainly, it wouldn't be difficult for ICE to civilly conduct a 'catch & deport/release program. At least get some documentation/stats of who is where. I was a proponent of issuing driver licenses because there would be a record on file. I have plenty more thoughts and concerns on this issue, but choose not to ramble on this post. off topic may fit the bill. just saying.
Illegal aliens are NOT immigrants trying to shoe horn them into the immigrant catagory is a blatant lie and falsehood.
An immigrant is someone like my wife who came here legally with support and education and a willingness to better herself and follow the law.
Illegal aliens are criminals under US Law and are the single most likely group to commit: Rape, assault, DWI, theft, ID theft & fraud. Illegal aliens are also the most likely group to be the residents of jails and prisons in the US.
I nominate this troll as the dumbest troll on newshound, thanks for making my case, from his own link:
In any case, while a notable percentage of illegal aliens are committing a lot of crime, as we shall soon see, it must be stressed that the vast majority of illegal aliens are decent people who work hard and are only trying to make a better life for themselves and their families, something you or I would probably do if we were in their place. With the exception of ID theft, for most illegal aliens their only crime is breaking the immigration laws of the United States and being in the country illegally.
~!
At the federal level, the number of criminal aliens incarcerated
increased from about 42,000 at the end of calendar year 2001 to about
49,000 at the end of calendar year 2004--a 15 percent increase. The
percentage of all federal prisoners who are criminal aliens has
remained the same over the last 3 years--about 27 percent. The majority
of criminal aliens incarcerated at the end of calendar year 2004 were
identified as citizens of Mexico. We estimate the federal cost of
incarcerating criminal aliens--BOP's cost to incarcerate criminals and
reimbursements to state and local governments under SCAAP--totaled
approximately $5.8 billion for calendar years 2001 through 2004.
5.8 BILLION TAXPAYER DOLLARS.
I don't mind paying taxes, But this is ridiculous
Hail Ragnars Beard | 05.22.08 - 3:09 pm
There is nothing in the GAO report about those "most likely" to commit crimes. It compiles informational statistics on incarceration rates and costs. The second site sources from an obscure author PF Wagner whose credentials don't appear to be anywhere and whose "source material,"
"INS/FBI Statistical Report on Undocumented Immigration" is bogus.
Hail Ragnars Beard | 05.22.08 - 3:14 pm | #
Are your numbers net of inputs from illegals, or are they gross?
-
The cost per prison I believe, is always misleading.
If you have a population of say 1000 prisoners and it costs $1,000,000 for those prisoners, the costs of running that prison will not go down by $1,000 since you're still going to be heating, paying for guards etc etc, at the same amount regardless of whether you've got 999 or 1000. (example) Granted the cost of feeding and clothing said prisoner will be eliminated, but lighting in the cafeteria will remain unchanged.
Exactly, FrankC.
Here's an interesting fact from a link that one of our lonely trolls posted yesterday...
Researchers from Rutgers University have found that, in general, immigrants are less likely than native-born citizens to be incarcerated.
HOAX News shows its anti-immigrant hatred by constantly using the term "illegal alien" in order to whip up hatred of immigrants from Central America and Mexico. If HOAX believes in accuracy, they should also refer to all Americans who illegally invaded Iraq as "illegal aliens". HOAX News has the double standard, if Americans break the law, we call them heroes but when Mexicans and Central Americans break the law, they are "illegal aliens."
I happened to catch some of Mouth of Mencia last night and he said something very funny but also very true. It will be a sad day if Mexicans STOPPED coming over the boarder looking for work here, because then it would mean things were better in Mexico than they are here in the US.
And that's the point that I feel so many overlook. This is a great country, if it wasn't why would people not risk life and limb to get here so they can pick lettuce in the blazing sun? Personally, I couldn't care less about Manuel coming over here to wash dishes or cut my lawn.
The movie 'Bordertown' explores working in a Maquiladore versus sneaking across to work in the US.
Considering these Maquiladores are set up by big corporations and exploit Mexican labor using the guise and benefits of free trade makes this a complicated issue.
What a childish argument but quite typical of the emotional left that refuses to address the problem of legal versus illegal immigration. I would agree that it is unfair to paint all those that come here as hardened criminals but to ignore the fact that many come here to commit and further their criminal activities is dangerously naive. I don't know your story ands really don't care I do know that there is a Cop's widow in Houston that has to deal with a completely unnecessary tragedy committed by an absolute scumbag and child molester who had been deported once but couldn't resist an open border and lax criminal prosecution both hallmarks of liberal border policies. The same policies that constantly want to confuse legal immigration with the anarchy of uncontrolled illegal border crossings. Only grown-ups who can take the emotion and misrepresentations out of the argument will be able to solve this problem and not the rantings of the left and right.
Ed, the overwhelming number of immigrants come to this countryfor a better life and for the escape from either US initiated terror which occurred in Central America in the 80's like in Guatamala, Nicaragua, and El Salvador, or for the neoliberal "free market policies" that have accelerated the economic destruction of their economies through subsidized imported crops or cash export crops which are overwhelmingly controlled by multinational corporate agribusiness. Ever wonder why you can buy a seemingly infinite variety of world grown coffees while there is starvation in these same countries? The vast majority of immigrants are hardworking, honest people. I know this. I've taught their kids in public high school for over 25 years. HOAX News is a hatemonger for immigrants and uses high charged stories which , even if true, paint a deliberately dishonest picture of overwhelmingly honest people.
progressive pat | 05.22.08 - 6:28 pm | #
You do make sense but Ed will not read it, instead he will smear you, not debate, he is witless and needs input via talking points. He described an incident that billo brought up last year, a typical cherry picked incident meant to smear a Democrat.
Ed, again, if HOAX news was about justice, they would NEVER label a criminal as an illegal alien, OR, they would label ALL CRIMINALS with an inflammatory description(how about radical Christian fundamentalist murerer/terrorist to describe the murderers of doctors offering abortions, etc).
Thanks, Sam. Notice how perjoratives are heaped on immigrants while Blackwater murderers get off with nothing. Unfortunately, Ed is another 20% who will follow his leaders off a cliff.
Juan McCain is an Illegal immigrant appeaser.
In Charlotte there has been murders by illegals but billo would never mention that city because the city gov't is primarily Republican.
I can find more examples of such but would fill up too much space on here.
All the naive RWers think the wall their tax dollars are going to is such a great thing. It'll solve the problem. A wall doesn't work with a bunch of gaps in it.
Stephen | 05.23.08 - 5:54 am,
Do the math, how many people cheat on their taxes, speed on their way to work or otherwise commit various crimes without being used as the GOP poster boy for everything wrong in the nation?
No one debates entering the country illegally is a crime. What they do debate is using it as a straw puppet to distract from real issues.
