This is classic. Typical republican actions. They really know how to treat someone in their time of need!!!
GOP complains about Obama Hawaii trip
On the day that Barack Obama's maternal grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, died in Hawaii, the California Republican Party filed a complaint about the Democratic nominee's recent trip to see her.
"Obama for America violated federal law by converting its campaign funds to Sen. Obama's personal use," said the Golden State GOP. "Sen. Obama recently traveled to Hawaii to visit his sick grandmother . . . Therefore the Obama campaign violated the FEC's ban on 'personal use' when it paid for the campaign's charter to fly to Hawaii without obtaining reimbursement for Sen. Obama."
And if they have to wonder why there losing across the board they don't belong in the office there running for.
Such a class act!!

As we who have lost our older generations know- it is a difficult loss. And especially so because she did so much in raising him.

As someone above said, the woman deserved to live long enough to see her grandson change the course of the world. I sure that Barack Obama will memorialize her life by realizing her dreams and wishes.

Actually, IMO, I have no doubt that she died believing her grandson was about to become POTUS. If, god forbid, it goes otherwise, she died happy.

I was so sad to hear she didn't make it to tomorrow, but no doubt she was extremely proud. I'm glad Obama got to spend some time with her.

At least his grandmother saw him make it this far. So sad to hear.
To the GOPers who complained about his visit to his grandmother in Honolulu. May you suffer defeat in every seat you hold.

I send my deepest condolences to Obama and his family. I lost my own Mom in early October of this year at age 89, and I know had she voted it would have been for this transformational candidate...because she was that kind of kick-ass rabblerousing lady who wouldn't take B.S. from anybody.
I share your loss in a very personal way, Senator Obama, and I hope also to share in your victory not just for myself, but for my Mom. I wish she had, and your Toot had, lived to see you elected to this land's highest office.
They both would have loved that.
My very best wishes go to you and your diligent campaign workers in this 11th hour. You have earned it, Sir, and I look forward to your efforts on all our behalf.

I found out that Obama's grandma was born in 1922 and worked at the "bomber plant" during World War 2. My own grandma was also born in Kansas, but in 1924, and she too worked as
"Rosie the Riveter"
(generic term of endearment for all the ladies who assembled planes for the war effort stateside while the men were off fighting overseas).
As far as I know there was only one bomber plant in Kansas during the war-the Boeing factory in Wichita.
This really has me wondering if by chance my own dear sweet grandma knew Obama's grandma. What a small world.
This generation truly was the
'Greatest Generation'. They gave up EVERYTHING to fight the Nazis, and this coming right after they had endured nearly 10 years of the Great Depression. The only thing Obama didn't mention was the Dust Bowl and dust storms his grandma and mine and all those in Kansas and Oklahoma endured.

My condolences and prayers to Barack Obama and his family, and all who knew and loved Mrs. Dunham. Perhaps she will have a word with da man upstairs and get him to give the religious wingnuts a big slap upside the head so they see sense and vote for her beloved grandson today.

Prayers and best wishes to Seantor Obama (President) and his wife children and all their family for this awful time in their lives.
Senator Obama has that warmth that comes only from a loving home and family and it is evident he was a loved child.
God rest her soul. May she look from a better place and see her son win the elecion and be able to boast about it with her old friends and past family.

I really wish I had not taken your advice gone to that website the lowlifes that post their our beyond belief to post such trash about a man and is Grandmother on the day she died show me the amount of ignorance that we face in America and the depth to which they sink is amazing ….
Every time that some one has passed on the left or the right and I have come on he there has been nothing but civil words for their passing even if we did not agree with them politically….
A very good example of this was when Tony Snow had passed only good words were said of him….but that site which try to lay claim to the party of family value after reading what they posted the family values that they speak of must be the Manson family values…..
To the Barack and Michelle Obama and their families I wish to send my Condolences and Prayers at this difficult time.
