One mother's day memory that stays in my mind was when I bought my mother a color television for the occasion. She would not open the box. It sat there for months until one day, my girlfriend came over and said to my mother "Hey, what is this? Can I open it"? My mother said "yes". My girlfriend opened the box, plugged in the tv, and found that it did not work. I couldn't take it back because the store went out of business. If there is one thing that I learned from my mother, it was not to be like her and show appreciation for the people in your life. Thank goodness I am not like that with my kids.
