Mack,
You honor me with the cross-post. Thank you for the nod.
After studying the Red Letters, it became clearer to me that Jesus was putting forth much of the same that was put forth by many great teachings: Salvation (or Enlightenment if you wish) must come from within. There is not a single appliance one can enlist (tithing, public confessions or demonstrations of "faith" or "piety", crying at the altar, big TV shows, ad nauseam) in order to achieve a chance at a quality afterlife.
In fact, Jesus was dead-set against mixing His business with that of the state. That alone should have settled any "separation of church and state" issues. HE said not to do it, full stop. Which leads me to believe that the BigBox version of "Christianity" resembles Christ's teachings none in the least.
Call it what it is: a political tool of an out-of-control regime whose goal is to destroy the Constitution. To write a theocratic basis of law into the Constitution requires writing out that which makes America America. It also crosses Jesus' very own line, the horror of which should shock any true Christian into speaking out.
If that abhorrent scenario arrives, the Constitution will differ from that of Iran only in choice of literature upon which to base bigotry, xenophobia and oppression.

Nice post Mack!! Funny you should write about wolves. My daughter had to read a short story by Jean Craig George about wolves surviving in the Arctic.
I am off to blow the leaves with my family.

You know I have always been one of your biggest fans! (We may even be cousins, if you ever finish up your geneological work!) )
Anyways, I think your article is worthy of a much greater audience. I would love to see you 'market'it around to some magazines or editorial pages !

I've wrestled every way I know but Blogspot refuses play square with me. I have the original email where I signed up some months back, but the ID never did work. If I retrieve the ID via email, it sends me a message with "we found you, click here"... then if I click it says "Nevah hoid o' ya."
Time being precious (for many personal reasons, including Rob's health) I'll be happy to read along with and rejoinder where I can.
Love y'all fierce,
Auntie 'Manda

Amanda, with your writing talent, you should be publishing somewhere! And, Lizzy's place is just a bunch of warm, happy individuals trying to change the world. You'd fit right in! And, getting back to the religion/political thing, this whole concept of religion in politics has changed my view on religion. In other words, I now connect Bush with religion and am running for the hills! I find myself searching for something that fits me a little better, whether it be Taoism or Neo-Pagan, or just my own brand of what's right or what's wrong. I think this administration has done more damage to Jesus Christ than Pontius Pilot.
My best to you and your better half!
