I was just reading up on what was said today, but low and behold you got it all here, Barbi.

and Madame Speaker responded:

Calm down with the threats. There is a new Congress in town. We respect your constitutional role; we want you to respect ours. This war must end. The American people have lost faith in the President’s conduct of the war. Let’s see how we can work together. This war is diminishing the strength of our military, not honoring our commitment to our veterans, and not holding the Iraqi government accountable.

I was looking for that quote from Madame Speaker earlier but couldn't find it online before I posted. Thank you, Lizzy!

The "job" in Iraq is NOT to built military bases to protect the contractors for the oil companies while they take Iraq's oil and 70 percent of its profits.

HE is the evil that lied and illegally invaded Iraq. HE is the one who keeps letting our troops down by not giving them what they need, over there, or when they return. HE is the one who is sacrificing troops for profiteers. HE has no moral purpose in the world and HE endangers our citizens.

And 70% of the American people know who is responsible... HE is.

I'm so sick of W's lying BS.

Gravatar Now if we could only get Hagel on board with paper-trail voting machines. That would be cool.

Gravatar I was so sick of Ws lying by about 3 Jan 2001. But all isn't lost.
For example, the vestiges of the Gone Old Party have selected the Congressional races they intend to throw what remains of their "might" behind. And our own John Hall is one of the ones being targeted.
I find this to be extremely encouraging because I know they will fail, but will waste a hell of a lot of money and resources targeting a candidate they can't beat.
Hall has shown he's nothing like the wide-eyed idealist hippy the opposition portrayed him as; that he's got the Barack-realist streak, and the ability to play with the big guys while not selling out.

Admirable, and so far, The People seem to approve of Congress' finally standing up to the administration.

So I look forward to the Bush veto. It's another step toward clarifying for the nation what a collection of wingnuts his administration is, how out of touch they are, and how the gospel they've been preaching for the last seven years won't get you anywhere but hell.
