John Edwards speech was exception. Every person and elected official should listen to it and remember that silence is betrayal.

Thanks for posting this Barbi.

{{Raven}}, you're welcome!

The one thing that irritates the most about this "escalation" is the fact that it was already happening as he announced it. A day after the announcement, my best friend (USAF) was on his way to Iraq for a minimum of 3 months as of now... he wasn't supposed to go again until Aug or Sept. if I am not mistaken. Funding or not, I believe the troops are deployable now and have known for a bit of time that they were going. I am at a loss for an answer on Iraq. Part of me doesn't want the mission to end until it is successful... but using the President's own benchmarks, the mission has already been successful and it should be time to go. IMHO we've turned Iraq into a place that BREEDS terrorism, trains them, educates them and sets them free. The borders aren't necessarily the most secure, so these trained and ready terrorists leave Iraq to spread Jihad elsewhere. Sure some stay there, maybe most do, but you have someone willing to teach others, then where does it end? Saddam was a bad man, committed atrocities, but he also kept the country of Iraq under control. They didn't train terrorists, they didn't line up ideologically with terrorist organizations and Saddam was leery of them due to wanting to stay in power. Basically, what I shoulda just said in a few sentences, "This war was uneccesary. It's time to go."

Gravatar Dell, it was little like going out of your way to beat up a kid on the next block, because you knew you could. And the bully is still there, bolder now because nobody challenged him. What a farce. Give my best to all the regs, huh?
