I am an Australian gun rights supporter and I have been reading American RKBA literature for 35 years, but this idea that gun banners want to create some freaky utopian political state is just bullsh1t.

They are really more like the temperance people before Prohibition. Moral poseurs, getting a kick of self-righteousness out of showing off the right opinions.

There are better ways to understand these people. Dr Claire Wolf's article at JPFO on the psychopathology of anti-gun foolishness was spot on, for instance. Robert Cialdini's 'Influence: ' is a brilliant reference on the ways that activism escalates as the nutters get more vehement.

But this idea that gun owners stand in the way of 'utopia' is WAY too flattering to ourselves.
