I was at the debate Monday night, and think I agree with your analysis, just more so. Davis was SO defensive in so many of his answers, while Crist just seemed completely in command of everything. Davis also comes across as wooden, and almost as if he was surprised to be thinking about the subject of some of the questions for the first time in his life.

Dave, Jeff - has Kerry come down there to stump for Davis? He was up here for Menendez a couple of days ago; as addlepated as the DNC is, you'd think that constantly associating with losing presidential candidates (Gore, Dean-O, Kerry) would be a non-starter. I mean, Jersey's not yet so blue that a D in R's clothing can't win (as Whitman did), and especially one with the name recognition and family connections as Tom Kean Jr.

Mike, you are not going to get a really hardcore lib to campaign down here. Fundraise, yes. Campaign, no. Most Dems have to lie about how conservative they are in order to stay viable. For example, gun control is the kiss of death down here. The only exception I can think of is four years ago, Bill McBride had Bubba down here to talk to black voters.

The problem with Jersey is that Dems are corrupt and the GOP is incompetent. Heck, after what your Supreme Court did Mark Foley might be moving up there.

Poor choice of words, Mike.

What other Dirty Thursday options are out there? If Crist had something that would burn him, he would have gotten it out early and gotten it out himself. Last year, the Tampa Trib took a lot of heat for doing a hunt for gay GOPers last year. I know with Crist and Mark Foley both serving in Tallahassee at the same time in the 1980's it's tempting, but I can't see the Trib springing an old Crist boyfriend late. It would backfire.
