Gravatar Thanks for the link, 'Fly. I would, however, like to warn any of your readers who may not be familiar with Ken and me that, while the proprioters of this blog are genteel and polite with their language, both of us have been known not to be, so please consider this your foul language warning.

Gravatar Oh, and I cannot get over the t-ball thing. What a joke.

Gravatar I agree with the T-Ball thing. What are we teaching these kids?

We can't reward anyone for putting out extra effort, because the slackers might get their feelings hurt? We can't keep score because someone will lose and that NEVER happens in life, right?

It is so true that we are encouraging the achievers to become slackers, rather than the other way around.

Gravatar That idiot in the checkout lane should have been snagged by store security and made to clean up everything he knocked down, and paid for the magazines he damaged.

Behavior like that enrages me. Why should he get away with it? It's not even remotely cute, no matter what his brain-dead "harem" seems to think. It's just annoying to the rest of us, the ones who see not the funny guy making jokes, but the store employee who will have to come through later and do extra, unnecessary work to clean up after him.

It's just another example of the selfcenteredness that frustrates me about my fellow beings.

Gravatar Chances are the guy in the check out line never had parents who let him play T-ball.

Gravatar "...as if they were still in kindergarten and the world was their parents' refrigerator." Spot on.

Sounds like the enforecement of "behavior/consequence" goes back a' ways for this clown -- his Mama should have stopped his crap back when he was, oh... 2?! But sadly [begin rant] his behavior is symptomatic of not only the "esteem-at-any-price" culture (or "Oprah-phication" as my hubster calls it) but also the decline, nay the DESTRUCTION, of the stable nuclear family (the causes of which are myriad; rampant materialism, the "normalization" of birth control, abortion on demand and the abuse of the welfare among them).

Which makes that last part all the more searing. It's sad that this kid is the poster child of "what's wrong with our youth", but even moreso that we ourselves have been so conditioned to be "tolerant" (no offense -- I'm just as guilty) that we don't enforce any consequences when this behavior is done in the public sphere. Not even people who are PAID to enforce them. *ouch* But it's no wonder... have you looked at the criminal justice system and how lax it is? [end rant]

I blame the Baby Boomers. Watch enough documentaries on the 60's hippie culture and read enough about the decline of morality since the "Me First" culture burst onto the scene and you probably will too.

Gravatar So he does that to entertain the twits accompanying him and the store enables it. What I hate to think about is what he does to top that performance somewhere else as an encore.

Makes me ill.

Gravatar On second thought, maybe he was breastfed until he hit puberty...that means he's a victim.

Gravatar I don't think the store was enabling, by the bye - their personnel was simply insufficient to handle someone of his youth and build acting destructively. Pretty much the only thing they could do is eyeball him and call the cops.

It may be time for the mega mart to hire some security guards with oomph.
