So sad. And to think she had just published a book.
It is unfortunate that the women's rights movement has been faltering here in the United States and globally when it is so desperately needed. The perception of women as property, as weak and vulnerable, is part of what enables abusive situations.

I am sad to read this story. Will there be no punishment for Nadia's husband?

Dear AA- I accidentally erased the 2 new comments that were left on the site over night. I will try to find the link you requested or at least email you the poems.
To the geographically/historically challenged anonymous who also got his comment erased:
Afghanistan is not an Arab country, and none of the Afghani ethnic groups are Arabic
And, as i already responded to you below but it is worth repeating here:
Djibouti and Somalia are two different countries, Djibouti and Somalia are both members of the Arab league, with populations that speak Arabic. Get it now?

True true, I think Afghani's are ethnically "Persian" although I'm not sure. I know many speak Farsi (or Dari).
With respect to the identity "Arab" its hard to say precisely what that means, considering the vast differences between people living in Iraq and Morocco (including language).
To my understanding, the ethnicity of Somali is distinct from Arab, both linguistically and culturally, and are considered ethnically Cushitic.
Membership in the Arab league is not precisely an indicator of arab-ness.
