always got time for jibba jabba

Gravatar Gee, where to start? Unlike the hypocrites on the other side>, Bush called for an end to all 527 ads over a week ago and asked Kerry to join him in doing so. For a fan of Michael Moore and MoveOn such as yourself, I am sure it isn't too hard to figure out why Kerry won't do that.

Gravatar Heh. That's why I congratulated Georgie for doing a good thing. But let's not forget that I won't be voting for Kerry, so I don't care whatever it is that he's doing or not doing. I just can't figure out why you've spent so much time and bandwidth joining the Jollytime Kerry Smear-o-Rama, when he seems to be your dream candidate: all the usual crap you get from Bush minus the Religious Right wackos and these yahoos who are going to disregard their boy's request...

Gravatar yeah no kidding. kerry is the real republican in the election.

Gravatar oh yeah i haven't seen ANY kerry ads on tv. move on must be doing a shitty job speding those millions. well i guess i did see one ad that made me like kerry a teensy bit. you know the one where it shows him with devil horns and says that he wants to raise the gas tax by 50 cents? yeah that kicks ass. it's almost worth a vote by itself. almost...

Gravatar Where have I joined in the smear-o-rama? I wrote an article that says that Kerry's lies are catching up to him which was in regard to the Cambodia story, which has been acknowledged to be false, and in regard to his testimony to Congress when he got back accusing the military of widespread atrocities.

I also wrote an article asking if Vietnam matters and concluding that no it doesn't. I couldn't care less about what Kerry did in Vietnam. What he did when he got back is only slightly relevant.

Also relevant is what you can learn about a person that would make up a story about Cambodia for political gain, trash fellow soldiers while they were still deployed, and then paint himself as a war hero 35 years later, again for political gain.

His complete lack of a plan for the future is entirely relevant. Anyway, I challenge anyone to find an example of "smearing" - while I believe the swiftboat vets are entitled to their 1st Amendment rights, I think the ads are lame. There is no way to know the truth about what happened IN Vietnam, but sure is easy to tell what happeneded after.

I just wonder where all the indignation was when Michael MooreOn called Bush a deserter, or when Terry McAuliffe said he was AWOL. Why aren't all the media Kerry whores who were calling on Bush to release military, payroll. and medical records asking Kerry to release his military records? When is Kerry going to denounce Whoopi? Or big fat stupid white man Michael Moore?

As for the substance of your question: Kerry is far from a dream candidate. He is a flip flopping wishy washy no plan having say whatever is politically advantageous power hungry unserious about national security billionaire class warfare waging warmed over piece of Dukakis.

McCain, Liebermann, or just about anyone with decency, actual convictions, economic sense, and a plan for protecting this country would have much more chance of being a dream candidate.

Gravatar that was far too long to bother reading

Gravatar Your short attention span tells me much about how seriously I should take your viewpoints.

Here is some more for you:

Nothing the "sleazoids" say about Kerry is as bad as what he said about them 33 years ago in his testimony to Congress, when he informed the world that his comrades – his "band of brothers" – had "personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads" etc, throughout their time in Vietnam.

Unlike John O'Neill's book, he didn't bother to give specifics: the US Army in general was rife with ear-severers. If you want to know why Paul Galanti is appearing in an anti-Kerry ad, it's because he first heard about this speech from his Viet Cong captors who cited it to try to persuade him and his fellow prisoners that resistance was now futile and they might as well cross over to the other side.

BTW, I've been wondering if it is "progressive" to make homophobic remarks about Governor "Dumbass" and his "boyfriend"? Or would that be sleazy?

Gravatar haha

Gravatar damn i was gonna take that down now since the strike is old news, but hey i think i'll leave it up for a while now, just for spite's sake ; )

Gravatar Spite? I thought you would be singing hs praises for intervening to resolve the strike just when it looked like talks would break down again!

thbbbtttt!!!

Gravatar oh sure, now you're being facetious.

Gravatar Kerry DID release his military record! That is why there are no calls for him to do it. Who cares about Whoopi, is Bush that thin-skinned that he cannot take a little ribbing? That is typical Republican-party rhetoric.

And why the hell shouldn't I call Bush a "flip flopper"? Huh? Hmmm, let's see here.

I am a uniter, not a divider — sure, whatever you say (thumbs up)

No child left behind — hmmm, every schoolteacher I know knows this is complete BS.

Osama wanted “dead or alive” — Osama “doesn’t matter.”

There are WMDs in Iraq — bwahahha

I am against nation building — no witty comeback needed.

Gay marriage is a state's right's issue — what changed his mind on that? The fact he is a "war president"?

We do not need the U.N. — Oh wait; now we do.

Condi Rice won't testify in public — whoopsie.

We won't negotiate with North Korea — uhhh, we won't?

Veep Cheney and Bush cannot testify because the constitution says we can't — uhhhh, they did.

Hmmmm, I remember Bush opposing the creation of the Dept. of Homeland Security when it first came out — can you say flip-flop?

And what about the 9/11 commission? Didn't he oppose that, too? Now he flipping loves the thing.

And if the invasion of Iraq was for self-defense, why aren't we invading North Korea? We KNOW they have "nucular" weapons. And what about the Sudan? If anyplace in the world is producing terrorists, it is the Sudan. Wait, the Sudan doesn't have oil — my bad.

Can you please shut the hell up on the flip flopping thing? Learn to think for yourself for a change. EVERYONE is a "flip-flopper," get over yourself.

By the way, it wasn't the Viet Cong who were holding Galanti, it was the North Vietnamese. I suggest you do a little more research on this conflict that "didn't matter," because the truth is, it DID matter — and it has been dictating our foreign policy since 1968.

The North Vietnamese, like any army in conflict, used psy ops for any advantage. Of course they used Kerry's speeches to their advantage. Just like they used Johnson's, Nixon's, other soldier's, etc. But it doesn't change the fact that Kerry went over there thinking he was going to change a country for the better, but quickly realized we didn't know what the hell we were doing.

He came back and spoke out against the war at a time when not a lot of people were. You want to know that truth, cowboy, atrocities happen in war, all the time, every day; done by young men who cannot take their situation anymore. Americans did not know about these atrocities because the media wasn't reporting them, Kerry was telling the TRUTH. War is hell. People do stuff in war that would amaze you — regular people like you and I.

It doesn't make these people bad people, but they have to live with it the rest of their lives. Some can, some cannot. Kerry wasn't doing it to call anyone out, or get anyone in trouble. He was doing it to show the American public what war

Gravatar is capable of making people do. No one was talking about what the Vietnam conflict was doing to our fighting soldiers.

Gravatar Wow - and to think Ryan thought my comments were long!

I notice you also posted your comment on my site - I have since responded to your response> - you have to click the link to see it because it is too long to put here.

Enjoy!

Gravatar Just noticed your "revised" comment on my site:

Can you please shut the hell up on the flip flopping thing? Learn to think for yourself for a change. EVERYONE is a "flip-flopper," get over yourself. Don't you understand that you are buying into the agenda being presented to you? I thought you were smarter than that...

my reply:

I find it amusing that someone who suggests that another should "shut the hell up" could also utter such an inanity as "get over yourself" - but for the record, I belive I mentioned flip and flop exactly once each in the article to which you are responding. I also find amusing your admonishment to think for myself - I read stuff from all over the spectrum, I recently read Howard Zinn's History of America, for instance. I don't support the Republicans on a number of social issues. I don't support the Democrats on national security, which for in this election, is the only issue that matters. I don't support Progressives hatred of capitalism. You on the other hand seem to be marching in lockstep with your fellow kool aid drinkers who have a blind hatred of Bush.

To which I would now add, in light of the revision:

How would you know how smart I am?

And just who is it that is buying into an agenda? For just one example, Bush spends 50% more money on education, and you see only the teacher's position on the issue.

I would like to say that I thought you were smarter than that, but...I don't know you.

Gravatar can't......help....it
must....comment.....

I've just had this THING lately about noticing how easy it is to throw numbers around. (and I gotta mention that I am a schooled math teacher). SO BEWARE! I am suspect of almost any number being used as FACT. It is sooooooooooo easy to bend numbers. For just one example: Bush spends 50% more money on education. What does that even mean? More than what?
NOT that I'm just picking on Mr. Infidelity - I invite you to notice this misuse everywhere - it's insideous!

Gravatar Sorry, Marla - I don't just throw numbers around for exactly the reason you mention, so I always try to source my claims.

In the article at my site, the above verbiage about increased education spending includes this link. It isn't a piece that flatters or bashes Bush - it is fairly objective as near as I can tell.

Gravatar is it completely necessary to post a comment from your site with your reply (presumably) from your site on a whole other website?

i'm sorry CJ, i think i started this whole thing with my crazy republican remark. i didn't know i was dealing with one of these 20-hours-per-day-on-the-internet neocons. my apologies.

Gravatar Yeah, well, don't sweat it, Ryan. I'm amused by all of it and, if I may be so bold as to speak for him, for the Cowboy, it's all in a day's fun.

Gravatar The comment was posted on my site as well, Ryan.

Gravatar And TL is right - it is fun. I had a serious case of writers block until this chance for a lengthy rebuttal came up.
