$\"Gravatar\"$ Sam, the video was okay, but kind of didn't really match the song's meaning in my mind, and I am tired of her having 1/3rd of each video doing a performance with the band. All of the live perfs of Hook Up were a bit bland for me. The sound mix was always off, the back-up singers' harmonies were louder than Kelly's melody on the verses.

Kelly has stated before that she didn't really want the Katy Perry tracks (specifically Long Shot, which was a last minute addition) on the album, but \"that's what the record company thinks people want right now\", to roughly quote Kelly. For me at least (an admitted superfan), you can tell when Kelly isn't 100% feeling into a song and/or performance. It seems like she really doesn't have much connection to the song, lyrics, etc. I want to see her sing a song she LOVES, and has a connection to...preferably something that she co-wrote. Her joy for performing shines through BEST when it is a song she loves.

All of that, coupled with the fact that Hook Up didn't impact at radio or digital sales quite like past singles have, and the fact that it seemed to be the record execs pandering to what they think radio audiences want right now (Katy Perry, etc) and not 100% allowing Kelly to be Kelly makes me not too fond of the whole Hook Up single era. Bring on Already Gone!!! (And hopefully in the late fall, 'If I Can't Have You'...)

$\"Gravatar\"$ ooh yeah i liked the video. And I honestly think hook up is one of the best songs on the record. I don't really like If I can't have you and impossible and stuff. All I ever wanted is not my fave album.
But I must admit that the live performances weren't what I'm used to of Kelly. Plus I also thought it didn't really fit her that well.
The Already Gone performances are already way better than the hook performances.
So yeah I can kind of agree with what all you said before.
I'm a huge fan of her myself so yeah I totally agree with the: 'not 100% allowing Kelly to be Kelly makes me not too fond of the whole Hook up single era.' Totally agree! We want Kelly to be Kelly and sing what she loves to sing.
