You think that was swift? Check this out: Giuseppe Zangara, who killed Chicago Mayor Anton Cermak while trying to assassinate FDR, was executed 33 days later. He only spent 10 days on death row. Of course, there was no trial as Zangara pleaded guilty to the crime.
