Poor frenchies.....their lives are so depressing they just don't have a sense of real humor and fun. Their 'humor???' is disguised as anti-American rant and propaganda.
After all, they all still think that Jerry Lewis is the greatest comic who ever lived! Sad, pathetic frenchies who just don't get it and never will.

Poor Molly, she believes the right-wing propaganda that Jerry Lewis is big in France. I know some of the bloggers of no-pasaran live in France, why don't they tell her the truth? is it because she doesn't "get it and never will"?

Humor in fwance has decayed with the rest of their rotten culture. A far cry from Moliere, the bon motte, the double entendre and (my favorite) the rare triple entendre.

George - your sense of subtlety is stellar. Americans joke about an earlier age when they joke about Jerry Lewis. It also isn't our obligation to correct anyone we don't want to. You're an adult. If you feel so strongly about some "truth" that you're obsessed with, do it yourself.

Of course Joe of course. However you seem more prompt to correct people when they do gon't go your way. But maybe i misunderstood, maybe Molly was ironic when she said that "[french] all still think that Jerry Lewis is the greatest comic who ever lived!". Was she?

Let's see, you live in France and cultivate a little coterie of fans in other countries, and all together you spin hatred and contempt for France on the internet...
I was trying to make sense of that. Are you just a bunch of whiners?
Unless-- Are no-pasarans an underground insurgent cell?
France-- love it or leave it, bud.

A Le Penist slogan? After all very logioal from the left who allied with Nazis and to todays' new nazism: islamism.

Hey Boozer
Actually, the Jerry Lewis frenchie thing is a joke, but assuredly not 'rightwing'. This has been going around even during cigar chomping Clinton. Still a good one!
And as for the dour frenchies, I have yet to see anyone from France with a smile on their face. They all look defeated and depressed. Where I come from in the States, we are hospitable (hell, we even pull over, let the car behind us pass and wave at one another). yee haw

JFM, I was KIDDING... I don't actuallt think pasaraners are insurgents. Maybe they're just lactose intolerant (adrift in a land of heavenly cheese).
p.s.: "love it or leave it": a slogan of Reagan's America. Used here in parody.

George:
You're right. But no, we're not obliged to manage a neutral format. The commenters are grown-ups - they can defend their own ideas and eat crow when needed. The weak-minded punters who do show up are usually under 18 and don't have much life-experience or information at hand to speak from.
As for Jerry Lewis, I always did like him, actually. But a Chevalier de la Legion D'Honneur? Along with Miles Davis? Sheesh.

Love it or leave it predates Reagan. It was circulating mainly in '68- '72 when child protestors were spitting on drafted soldiers and spending their parents' money wisely in University.

Well, the news tells me that we should get out of that quagmire. It wouldn't be the first time that we cut and ran. The enemy is counting on our unwillingness to tolerate any casualties. By the way, in all future contests, for all time, we should withdraw as soon as we take casualties. That is the future of the U.S..
When we do finally cut and run, the television media can celebrate its second great victory. The first was its contribution to the glorious victory of the North Vietnamese 30 years ago.

B.P. - I don't think cut and run is in the cards. Remember, this President doesn't take orders from Walter Crankcase (or any other TV newsreader, for that matter) the way LBJ did. The soonest there will be any cutting and running will be in 2009 -- if a Democrab manages to get elected President in 2008.

There is no insurgency. There are ordinary Iraqis, and there are terrorists. That's it.
The only sound you'd hear from Chirac seeing Bush (you'd have to listen closely) would be Chirac pissing in his pants.
Finally, I liked Jerry Lewis at one time - I was about five. Since then he's just been annoying.

The Jerry Lewis that captivates the French is the character Buddy Love from "The Nutty Professor."
Buddy Love is French. He continuously smokes cigarettes . His posture and manner are called "relaxed self-conceit." He seems to be suave and urbane, but is quickly disappears in time of trouble.

Jerry Lewis was funny when paired with sauve Dino Martin(i), but down hill and boring ever since. On his old TV show he compared north Alabama (Von Braun's home) with Nazi Germay. I know many WW II vets who have never foregiven him for that.
