Gravatar The palladium ring shown in the film and the electromagnetic coil driver also shown are part of a basic cold fusion power device. The ring is electrolytically loaded with deuterium ions from the breakdown of heavy water (dueterium oxide). The electromagnetic coil operates at one of several resonant frequencies and voltages/currents that accelerate the deuterium ions inside the ring where a small percentage collide and fuse together in nuclear fusion as in the process that drives the sun. This generates a great deal of heat. This heat could be used to generate electricity using steam to run a turbine as in nuclear fission or it could simply heat atmospheric air flowing around the soles of the boots that would drive a compressor as in a jet engine. Cold fusion devices have shown up to ten times the energy density of nuclear fission reactor cores like those that drive modern aircraft carriers and submarines.

Unfortunately no one to date seems to be able to reliably repeat the process. Though we keep trying.
