Gravatar
Even though Blacks expressed more frutration with being neglected by the Democratic Party, they refused to translate that frustration into votes for a Black running as a Republican.
Can we put this in perspective so that nothing is missed in our analysis of what happened?

Mr. Steele's opponent is Mr. Cardin. Mr. Cardin was 1/3 of the US House representation for the city of Baltimore. On last Tuesday the Black voters in Maryland chose to give the representative of Baltimore and the Mayor of Baltimore a PROMOTION to state wide office.

As politically conscious environmentalists that you must be - could you make sense of this for me? What were the campaign messages for these two men (both of whom happen to be White)? Vote for me and I will do the same thing to the state of Maryland as I have done for Baltimore?

Does the fact that the political machine in Baltimore is featured as a vital portion of the show "The Wire" on HBO give you pause? These folks on the show are not Black Republicans. But for some reason, however the thread of Mr. Steele was more repulsive than the actuality of WHAT IS today in Baltimore.

I heard the second portion of the trio of US house representation in the house speak out prior to the election. US Rep Elijah Cummings who represents much of the backdrop that is shown weekly on "The Wire" spouted out notions of "failure!!", "incompetence!!!", "corruption!!!!" and that "THEY MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!!!!!!".
As a Black man who follows our plight from a local perspective - I grew excited. I thought that Mr. Cummings was focusing on Baltimore and keying upon the painful truth that the Black people there face daily.

Failed schools, the fastest growing rate of Black HIV infections in the nation, Black on Black crime as the leading TERROR THREAT keeping a Black mother from sending her children out on the streets to play.

I know as Environmentalists the actual environmental conditions in the Black community CAUSED BY MAN must concern you? And not just chemicals.............

Sadly though - as he kept talking - Mr. Cummings was talking about BUSH.

Do the actions of Black voters in Maryland indicate to you - an objective observer - that this binary choice of parties itself is not a SOLUTION to our problems?

Sorry for the people of Baltimore.
