Crashes? Oh, dear, doesn't sound good... Still, I guess things can go wrong with a beta version, even whith such stylish games. Great write-up.

Yeah, exactly same issue - its a great game, but... the crashing is almost intolerable. And then it looses your stats too, which really annoys me

40 pages (of a thread) on the Steam forums about the subject shows we're not the only two having the problem :-(
Apparently it's been around since EP1 but EP1 worked fine for me. The same issue did, however, occur with HL2: Deathmatch but a video card driver update fixed the problem. No such luck for the TF2 crash though!

Still, it's only a BETA, innit? Oh, and the whole package is quite cheap considering it only costs 40$...

True, but if the problem was never fixed in Episode One for some people then who's to say Valve will fix it in TF2?
I'm hoping the full game will work fine. The price was the good thing about it. Only £22 when you use the exchange rates :D
