Ok, that's interesting... Wouldn't risk a prediction, but I think it will at least survive as a place for aspiring developers to show off their skills.
Oh, and thanks for the plug

"everybody has a secret world inside of them. I mean everybody. All of the people in the whole world. No matter how dull and boring they are on the outside. Inside them they've all got unimaginable, maginificent, wonderful, stupid, amazing worlds. Not just one world. Hundreds of them. Thousands, maybe." - Neil Gaiman
Kinda fitting, I think.
Anyway, this kinda reminds me of the ol' MUD days, with hundreds of different small-scale worlds floating about.
I'm looking forward to this, simply because I switch my game of choice rather quickly (I find more entertainment in learning what the world's about than actually getting involved in it) and this would make available a huge swath of worlds to discover. Of course, most of 'em are going to suck, but it's going to be interesting to see how this turns out.
Oh, and I've got a few ideas myself when this hits release.

You get major points in my book for quoting Neil Gaiman! :D
I'm hoping that Metaplace will have a good enough portal to highlight the gems amongst the rough. If Metaplace don't get the 'social network' thing right then it's going to be incredibly hard to sift through all those bad eggs just to find a decent game.
Of course, the brilliant thing about Metaplace is that you can display them on your own website so, hopefully, other people will do the dirty work for us.
It's going to be incredibly fun playing with it all but I'm just wondering how long that fun will last.
