It's very easy to get sucked into spending a majority of your time fussing with SEO tactics and techniques. But without content, you're going to have a tough time getting or retaining a reader base.

Another caveat worth mentioning is Alexa - lots of bloggers get really hung up on working their Alexa ranking. But really, Alexa ranking is a bit like cheesy late-night infomercials hawking "collectable" Nascar plates - that is, what makes them "collectable" is that someone declared them to be so.

In other words, Alexa ranking is kind of a weak self-propagating hoax - bloggers believe Alexa-originated hits to be important because, well, Alexa says they are. And since so many other bloggers have bought into this, surely it must be true.

Forget about Alexa. Stop worrying about Google so much. Apply your time & focus on your content.

Now I've gotta go check my Google Analytics stats...
