Gravatar Just wanted to stop by and say howdy. I enjoy reading yer blog. Keep up the great work---you sound like SUPER NURSE (and proud of it) wish there were more male nurses about to balance sooooooooo much estrogen (if ya catch my drift)

All the male nurses at my hospital are great. I do feel sorry for them at times working in a mainly women's work place. I enjoy the fact that they are honest and direct. None of that cat-like quality that females are famous for!!!

Sign me Mamabear R.N. Hospice

Gravatar Mamabear, thank you for stopping by! I know that the bulk of my posts is on world events, but I am keeping my eye on interesting developments in the world of nursing as well. I'll try to get more stuff out there for my colleagues in the profession in upcoming posts.

I work in the ER, and people often tell me how it takes a "special kind of person" to work in such a crisis-laden environment. But I think that anyone who chooses to be a nurse for all the right reasons (not money, for sure) is a special kind of person.

I have a deep, deep respect for hospice nurses. The hospice nurse who cared for my dad during his last months was extraordinary. My hat is off to you, Mamabear. Thank you for what you do. It really does make a difference!

Gravatar And the compliment back to you as well. If I would have become a nurse b4 the age of 48 (57 now) I would have wanted the whole experience--ER and all. But alas and alack I have found my niche where I am comfortable and excel.

Your current writings Mon aug 21 2006 are indeed excellent. Sounds like you've a military background. If you can stand some salty language and a few rants from some of the big bad trolls yu should come on over to my son's blog Funwithhandgrenades.blogspot.com

We've a great group of ppl over there and they have become just like family supporting my son in Iraq. He tells the story of his experience from the boots up. it is interesting and heart breaking at times as well. Come visit us. E (my son, AKA Dreadcow) is a little burned out at this point having been there almost a year so he has decided to stop blogging for awhile but go back to the entry titled "propaganda" I think you would agree it is eye opening.

You feel like family, thats why I offer.

Gravatar Mamabear, I will take you up on your invitation.

Yes, I have military experience (one hitch as a paratrooper in the Army back in the early 1980s). I am also a Navy brat (Dad was an aircrewman), and I am a naval historian on the side.

Thanks so much for your gracious offer, and for stopping by again!
