Gravatar You should have felt good!!!! That's what we are there for, after all!

RE: Torsades - see it all the time! I'm surprised it's so rare to your department...maybe it's a west coast arrythmia! LOL

Gravatar Awesome! Well done.

Gravatar "oh crud"....truer words never spoken. But thank God a happy outcome. Makes you feel pretty good to be a part of that doesn't it.

Gravatar We see it all the time here too in the Rockies. Almost always an electrolyte problems. But a satisfying, one shock (usually) save!
Great job

Gravatar ah, torsade...
Glad you saved her.

Gravatar All you ppl out there in ER land are heroes---brave and true---It's great when it all comes together!!!

Gravatar What a great story. Thank God there are nurses like you. Pat yourself on the back, Brother. YOU deserve it!

MJ

Gravatar Whoa. Now THAT'S a real tale from the trench.

You make me jealous. I can't wait to start my clinical years. Hope I get to see torsades de pointes sometime before I kick the bucket too :P

Gravatar Angry Medic, if you stay in the ER long enough, you'll see plenty of odd things. In fact, if you stay in the ER for a mere ten minutes, you'll see more odd things than you'd wished.

Gravatar Yikes! and 'Hey!' works just fine. Nice job.

Gravatar I've had a couple of patients surprise me with perfusing v-tach, and "oh crud" is exactly the right response. I'd heard docs say that electricity is the best medicine, but didn't believe it until I'd done it a few times.

Nicely done.

Gravatar So that's what torsades looks like. I have LQTS. They tell me it pre-disposes me to torsades de pointes. Now at least I'll know what I'm missing.

Gravatar Saw some torsades the other night, and my second thought was something like, "Oh crud." The first thought was, "Hey, cool...torsades!"

sick, probably.
/jo

Gravatar Cool! I'm a new grad RN in critical care, and I just finished my ACLS certification class today, so reading about your experience was especially fun. That's so awesome that so much can happen in a mere 10 seconds. =)
