Mad Horses is the basis for "Bring It On" by Playgroup featuring Kathleen Hanna of Le Tigre.

yeah, true. found that out googling Haig for the post. Looks like Trevor Jackson sampled some Slits on that track too: http://www.discogs.com/release/70662

I've been looking for that Slits song ("UK Boatlaw") since I first heard the Playgroup LP. No luck. Try to hunt down the Trevor Jackson mix he did on Solid Steel. Great stuff on there.

Thanks a ton for the Paul Haig, and thanks to F for immediately answering the question "where have I heard this?"
Brilliant.

so I finally tracked someone with a copy of the Playgroup album. I like Trevor Jackson's label and his work, but I'm undecided about "Bring it On". Funny thing is, when I first heard "Mad Horses" I thought, "someone should sample this!"

when a friend got the promo of the playgroup album, he put that song on for me and said "this is something you'll probably like". I immediately recognized the sample but couldn't place it. Drove me nuts all day long till I came back from work and figured it out. Months later Jackson came and DJ'd the DFA Black Dice/Rapture show at the Warsaw and I requested the Paul Haig track. He responded with a polite smile, either letting me know how cool I was or letting me know how big an asshole I am.

pretty funny, good story. I know that feeling of going nuts trying to figure out a sample thing. I just heard a Beastie Boys remix by Rub N Tug - took me 30 mins to source that Macho City sample but it was driving me mad.

Thanks for throwing that out there!
I had the Fruit of Original Sin on vinyl and just recently has tried to collect all the tracks in digital, and it was this track plus the 323 one that kept evading me.
