Firstly, I would challenge anyone to find a NYC building that is NOT in close proximity to street traffic. Second, the nearby Pathmark is a plus, not a minus, because it adds a degree of convenience when it is time to grocery shop. Also, the bottle redemption machines that are referenced face the WEST side of the building, a full block away and completely out of view of Bridges. Moreover, the machines are NOT operational 24/7, which the poster would be aware of were they not simply an ocassional visitor whose sole intent is to bash the area anyway.Regarding the firehouse, the ridiculous assumption that sirens blare all day is also a fallacy; trucks do not pull out from firehouses with their sirens blaring. It is not until they are fully on the road, blocks away, that they initiate the sirens, for expediency through traffic. Also, there is not a fire or fire emergency "24/7" so the assertion that the noise occurs around the clock is equally preposeterous. I wonder if the poster would have the same opinion of the mostly white neighborhood on east 29th, where a fire house sits smack in the middle of the tree-lined street. It has always been my opinion that the vast majority of posts on curbed are racially motivated, as evidenced by the innuendos.Nothing in Harlem will ever be good enough. Fine, stay downtown in the crack-littered and urine stained streets of the Village and Lower East Side, and convince youself that somehow, you are still superior.
