OOOOOO Thanks! I love pound cake, have never thought to make from scratch but I'm definately going to try this. My cooking skills are pathetic, the BF does most of it but every so often I like to try. Fire extinguisher close by.

Monica- seriously this is sooo easy. And it is so hard to mess up the cake. It is so moist, thanks to the sour cream. And hey if anything at least you can have fun eating some batter from the bowl

I have the same problems with baking, love to do it but things just don't come out as they are suppossed to

This looks great. I LOVE pound cake, esp. with fresh strawberries and cream. Or blueberries and cream. I'm not picky.

I remember walking into the kitchen one day when my daughter was four years old, to find her in the floor with a mixing bowl and flour EVERYWHERE. She was making snickerdoodles - they'd made them at daycare so she knew just what to do. I helped her measure the milk, looked at a cookbook to see what temperature to set the oven at, handed her a cookie sheet, and told her to let me know when to put them in to bake. They turned out very good but I asked her to let me know when she felt like she wanted to bake something in future so I could contain the mess. (Not to mention, set her on the counter to work there instead of on the floor!)

i remember i bakes an organic apple cake and it tasted horrible...it wasn't my fault, it was a mix. some things, like cake cannot be organic and healhty and still taste good. so, on a day when i 1)feel like baking and 2)dont mind all the fat, i will definately bake this yummy looking cake. thanks!

Laura- the floor is the perfect hieght for children. We have a wooden stepping stool in the kitchen which Mariam swings around to 'help' with everything in the kitchen. baking, cooking, chopping cucumbers and washing dishes. I hate the thing I'm always tripping over it and her. And at least you got snickerdoodles out of the deal I usually end up with a mess and Mariam telling me "No it was you Mama"

ilka- organic cake?? eewww I don't equate organic, diet, low fat, or healthy to good tasting cakes. Try it whe you have company and a friend told me it freezes well but I never have anything left the next day with the kids and all

This recipe is very similar to my Mom's "Socket two me cake." This brought back wonderful memories of my Mum. I muss her so still.
