I only read the last post of yours and this one of your blog, which i get to know recently. With every word you wrote there I was nodding and saying to myself that i can't agree more.
I am in Oman, and the situation of weddings here is almost the same. In the part where you spoke of saloons I was like it is like this here even with the over priced saloons. You just opened up something i have always accepted as a burden we have to go through. Seeing this in the eyes of non-Arab Muslim made me realize how awful is this. Ah, your daughters are lovely, Salam

Thank heaven for little girls
I hear you on the "paranoid" bit. My girls are always getting oogled by the aunties and grandmas in our community. It is cute and slightly unnerving at the same time.

Amna- What is amazing is that so many here feel the same way but not much changes. There are a couple of upscale saloons here that import Europeans that do a wonderful job and know how to be professional. But the weddings I think is a lost cause even if ladies don't like them they'll continue to have them the same way.
Fairuza- I feel sad having to think that others are sexualizing my small girls. Even though Hannah is a big girl she is still only 9 and I have to remind myself of that sometimes. But to sexualize her and think of her marriage partner.. oh so not happening beyond a joke. For instance I'll say "Hannah has to marry someone that owns a grocery store" due to her healthy appetite But to think of match making now.. ewwww gross
Abu Sinan- thank you

Mashallah,so adorable. I have 2 little girls myself and my oldest who is 7 just loves those big frilly dresses, though she rarely gets to wear them as we don't have weddings or occassions(family is not here) for her to wear them. I know what you are talking about. I come from the same culture of big weddings and bigger dramas with hair, dresses and the whole nine yards!

sf- my girls don't get to dress up nearly as much as they want to. But I figure every two years fills my quota on weddings

Wow! An actual post from the real Mr. Man!
Nzingha - mashaAllah, your daughters are so adorable. I hope THEY had fun, at least. That whole salon bit sounds like quite and ordeal, though. So I'm left wondering (I've never had that whole hair production for a big event done to me), would it take around that same amount of time in an American salon? Hmmm
Was the food good?
Good to hear from you! Hope you're all having a great summer.

I have been reading your blog for about a year. Reading through your words; you, take me through experiences in the Kingdom. I thoroughly enjoy your post regarding your lovely children.

Umm Yehiya- I'm sure some were starting to wonder if Mr. Man existed lol
If an American saloon took me 6 hours to do three little girls hair I would demand not to pay for it and probably wouldn't have to.
btw never even tasted the food it just went in.
Umm Ahmed- the only ones who enjoyed this whole ordeal was them
Amira- Glad you enjoyed the post. And thanks for finally commenting

Masha'allaah on the cutie pies!
You are so brave to go to the salon! I walked into a salon once and the whole entire thing was filled with a haze. From what? They were blow-drying hair straight to the point that it was frying it. I'm not kidding. Since then, I've never gone back. They just don't seem very clean. Unless you go to a high end one or one at a hotel.

L- that must have been a nice smell.. ewww
Umarah- Jihad was with his cousins playing and was in the hotel asleep long before the girls got back. And no quite honestly I don't find anything nice about Saudi weddings. I don't like going to them and generally refuse all invitations unless it is family like or close friends. Than I'll make an appearance than leave. It just isn't my cup of tea

I'm sorry but your typo, "saloon" instead of "salon" made me laugh. Taking your kids to a bar! hehe

Your girls are adorable. If this is what the quests go through, imagine what the bride goes through for her wedding.
