It's awesome. I can't wait to get a copy. I really haven't liked his stuff before, but I took a chance listening to this album and I'm completely in love. This will absolutely go on my iPod.

it's good. a bit disjointed at times, and the tracklist could have been better organized. i'm not a huge fan of the back and forth between rocker and ballad. maybe all the 'slower' songs on one cd, and the more 'up-tempo' songs on another? but it ain't my cd obviously...
curiously less immediate with its melodies than his last outings, and more of a return to his alt-country roots. this will appeal to his already fans as a more mature work on his part, which should mean continued lack of commercial success (further proof that the music industry is ass-backwards)...
great record though...

zowee - this is pretty stuff. some of the songs have the epic quality of old Grateful Dead....(or maybe I'm just ka-rayzee). Thanks for putting this up - seeing him tomorrow night in Toronto and this will get me prepared!!

ok - so i saw ryan last night in montreal. it was unreal. i listened to cold roses a couple of times before heading to the concert, but didn't truly appreciate it until hearing it live. what an amazing show. the tracks were solid, albeit a bit heavier than how they sound on the cd (but still great nonetheless).
only complaint was that there were none of the old stuff, although he did a lot from heartbreaker.
the cardinals are a solid band as well. definitely a hidden gem.
oh be sure to check out the opening act. rachel yamagata was great.
for those of you that have tix to upcoming shows, enjoy, i'm jealous.

let me first say that i am a fairly big ryan adams/whiskeytown fan so any criticism i am about to spew is done so with love in my heart. i just heard this new record and i am not that impressed. i think overall the album drags. even with the multiple musical personalities of Mr. Adams, he has always managed to cover both the sad slow songs and the more upbeat stuff but the first disc of this record is just a lull. i liked disc 2 a little more and maybe this will grow on me in the future but right now i think it is the time in Adams' career to start focusing of quality instead of quantity. remove four or five deadweight songs from this double disc and you might have a kick ass record. but hey, who the hell am i to judge the guy.
