Lilly was a huge sign. His #'s are going to be VERY solid in the NL Central. He's going to love not having to face the AL East lineups any longer. This is a lefty getting ready to hit the peak of his career. Compare his #'s last year to Zito's - same. Zito is on the tail of his time, and will end up with a much larger contract. Great sign.

The Vonachen's have got to be beside themselves with Ryno coming to Peoria.
Cha Ching$$$ I can hear the box office cash registers ringing already.

We still need at least one more outfielder who knows what to do with a stick, and a stopper for the bullpen. I don't trust Dempster to rebound, and who knows if Wood could step in there. It would be great if he could. If the Cubs are truely up for sale, then I look forward to a couple more patches being applied.

Gravatar I think Cliff Floyd is going to be the next guy they pick up. It may work out if he can stay healthy.

Gravatar I just can't help thinking the one year the Cubs decide to spend, it's a weak free agent market.

That being said, I still don't think this spending spree results in a World Series title.

Gravatar Agree. Nadel makes the point in his column today that despite all of the money spent we still need a centerfielder and pitching.
