Thanks for posting this. The headline of the CS Monitor story really drives me nuts. Referring to Chavez as a "strongman" is increasingly common in the press, although by definition a stongman is a leader who takes power by force. Obviously, Chavez is hugely popular and has been democractically elected 3 times now (if you count his huge defeat of the recall referendum). Watchdogs should really make sure that this semantic tool not go unchallenged. |
