Some of his comments suggest that this guy's ideology is going to be the major stumbling block.
Look at Honduras and El Salvador--just to name two countries. How does these country's obsequiousness toward the US improve the lives of the impoverished majority?
It doesn't. How does not demanding that the bully on the block stop his violence make a person more free and prosperous? It doesn't.
People in Honduras live in virtual peonage, with banana plantation workers being poisoned and left sterile for two dollars per day.
At the core, it is the classism/racism and the comprador ideology of the neoliberal free market, along with massive corruption, that has brought Latin American nations to the sorry state they are in today.
Let the PJ's go into the barrios and advocate breaking off relations with Cuba and requesting that the poor working class start backing a policy that entails backing off from criticizing the US when its policies are unjust.
For anyone with integrity this will appear to be the BS that it is.
The PJ's are so full of themselves. With classic Latin American soap opera-style good looks and a penchant for shopping in Miami and denigrating all things Cuban, these folks are the best weapon that Chavez has in his arsenal. It's the ideology stupid.
But just the fact that these deluded fools are beginning to recognize that they are not in the majority marks a point of reference where they may start climbing their way out of the yuppified shopping mall wilderness that they have ensconched themselves in for the past few years.
Good post OW.
