What a succinct statement of the major points that people in the US should heed.
But will they? Will the liberal/conservative nexus start looking at the situation in a more nuanced, critical manner? I have my doubts.
There is a deeply help belief that the US has the right to 'take-out' any leader or movement that is counter to the interests of imperialism and neocolonialism--the spiritual impetus for the policies of the IMF and the World Bank.
Bottomline: the ruling elite in the US really don't support the concept of democracy.
Important to note that it is not just the Bush neocons:--it is the entire political elite, and their willingness to thwart democracy has been the rule for decades.
Jackson's actions at this juncture should not be underestimated. He is far from perfect, but he does have credibility for speaking truths to the ethical cowards that attain power.
These statements by Jackson have made it more difficult for weak-kneed liberal Democrats and the mind-numbingly stupid liberal pundits to pass off crass political propaganda (that Chavez is a dictator, etc.) as truth.
For this, real supporters of democracy should be thankful for this man. He did the right thing at the right time.

Slave, you continue to amaze. First of all, there is NO PROOF the US is planning any assassinations or that they were involved in the 02 coup. I can sit here and say Castro killed JFK -- it means nothing without proof.
We DO KNOW that Che Guevara died trying to violently overthrow the Bolivian government -- a move supported by Castro. Washington doesn't operate in a vacum. The Cuban/Russian meddling in Latin American affairs has been atrocious and worthy of condemnation. I'll give you the opportunity to agree with me, Slave!
