Gravatar The methodology of these 'polling companies' is highly suspect--and always is, no matter who takes the survey's.

Not to say that some don't have more 'objective'/efficacious methods than others. But this is to say that citing polls is a way of manipulating people's expectations--creating 'buzz' or a sense of overall gloom.

Venezuela's private polling companies have distinguished themselves to be tools for the oligarchs on more than one occassion.

It would serve the Bolivarian project well to have its fingers on the pulse of the people's opinions.

There is a type of reciprocity in play here, a feedback loop in the context of the population that is now feeling the potential of their possible power.

As with all ideology, the views of the population is rife with glaring contradictions and perceptions and misperceptions.

This polling is in no way a 'science'--it measures people's views at a certain place and time. Reality is fluid and peoples views change as events develop, a they (we) learn in the context of an open and evolving social-political-ecological reality that language utterly fails to fully describe.

Gravatar So I finally figured out what all this Daniel Burnett thing is and PRESSUMABLY they found out who ow is? And they are trying to get him fired?

I never thought I would act hollier than thou with internet posters but this is lower than low, the internet preserves annonimity if one choses (forget technical issues) he chose to remain annonymous for work related reasons and you people seek to out him? Scum.

Hypocracy to the extreme, and you people whine about Tascon's list when you are no better. What next where his kids (pressuming he has) go to school?

Gravatar Amen Flanker, amen

Indeed, the hypocrisy is glaring here.

As far as Alek is concerned--I actually admired the man for his mastery of language--as much as I disagreed with his political arguments and intentional distortion.

However, the effort to sabatoge Dan B.'s ability to make an income is as low as it comes.

I took issue with Dan B. more than one year ago because I saw the guy as a milquetoast type of liberal.

However, as I saw his diligence in debating the RR 'fraud' issue I had to tip my hat to the guy. I, personally, have no patience to argue with people suffering collective psychosis and political denial.

Whoever OW is--his will to remain anonymous is secondary to the cogent analysis he brings to the blog world.

Lastly, I really respect OW's political openness in that he does not ban or censor comments.

(Unlike Daniel, a person that I also like very much but disagree with vehemently.)

Gravatar Flanker,

It surprises you? Didn't you ever see the "reconocelos" web site?

Gravatar No I never saw that website.
