I think Rev. Pat is really worried that Hugo Chavez's government is much more diligently following the teaching of Jesus than George Bush's government. That really undermines the faithful, that is the faithful voting for Georgie Boy.
He probably figures, blaming Saddam with conections to Osama and WMD with no proof whatsoever fooled the ignorant undeducated bible thumping americans before, so why not try it now?

Chavez is leading Venezuela out of economic neoimperialism; it is no wonder that the people that live and breath capitalist imperialism want Chavez dead.
How many years are South and Central American countries supposed to accept a majority of the population perpetually impoverished? It doesn't jibe with the rhetoric of freedom and self-determination that we scream from the top of the mountain.
And mind you, Chavez' reforms have been very modest in every respect--and look at the reaction from the dogmatists.
Let's just hope that the US is taken down a few notches in the eyes of the global community. Indeed, savage capitalism is the road to ruination and death.
Where does this Osama donation thing come from? I read they got it from disaffected military but this is the first I've ever heard of it (I'm a johnny-come-lately). Hopefully this has been thoroughly debunked. Can someone link me up with the debunking?

This Osama-Venezuela junk has been around a while. I don't know who specifically came up with it but the only media that ever picked it up was the Natioanl Review, not exactly the most credible media.
Its typical opposition mud slinging. They just try to make every claim they can against Chavez hoping something will catch on - ie the old throw all the mud you can at the wall and see what sticks.
As far as debunking this goes I don't know how you can debunk it. I think it is incumbent on those making the accusations to present evidence and so far (and we are talking years now) they haven't. Which is why no-one except loons like Robertson even talks about it.

yup, thats the story I remember. Again you can't prove the negative of these things but note its from January 2003. So more than 2 and a half years and no evidence.

The eternal optomist in me wants to believe people won't fall for that again. Then again... they probably will 
Maybe shifting Venezuela's investments from US Treasury bills to Euros in Switzerland makes them a bit more geographically near Osama. At least one right wing nut thinks that is a "nail in commie Chavez' coffin".

Among other things he paints himself as part of the inner circle with no evidence whatsover besides him witnessing it, he hasn't even testified under oath.
