Gravatar Jeez, OW--this housing looks far superior in the quality of construction than many that are built here in Florida (with soft-wood frame and partical board with shingle roofs....uugggh!).

Indeed, these homes should be in existance for over one hundred years, even longer.

I would have encouraged a system that collects rainwater from the roofs, and even taken advantage of solar and wind, if feasible and possible.

There are species of palms and succulent plants that can thrive in arid regions--i imagin even some species of tree that form canopies.

Indeed, I am sure that everything is not ideal, and could be done more ecologically, but this work looks very sound.

Are the roofs made with authentic clay tile?

From my travels to Central America and my experience here in the US, masonary construction is superior.

I hate carpet and shingles for roofing.

Good job OW.

Gravatar Great job OW. The revolution in action indeed. It's also great news that the housing programs are picking up.

Gravatar Your naivete never ceases to amaze me.

Gravatar Was'da'matta Guillo - cant stand that OW publishes the truth from "your" land? Wait a minute - Your land is where Chavez is now providing cheap oil - isnt it?

Oh wow! you get a double whammy suffer.

Gravatar Good post. Compare how Chavez clears slums, to how Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe does. There he tore them down, with people still inside the building.

I'm putting a link to this blog at:

Regards.

Gravatar DBC - er' Renegade - I dont think there were any people in the lands prior to construction of these bildings.

You see, there is a difference - where someone like you, who disregards history at every convenient opportunity, might see some comparison to a Zimbabwean actions, in reality there is no such truth particularly for the fact that no-one lived on these lands.

Now, not to let you escape with the Mugabe reference - What is the driving force behind the land tenure issue that drives Mugabe to take such actions - harsh qua dumb as they may be? Memory never fails me my friend. As sure as I know that you are DBC (Dry Back Cuban) I am equally sure that we have had this very same conversation before. It hinges on the issue of colonialism, its effects of society, and its perception in the modern day.

How wonderful it is for you (us)to convey your state of mind in a medium that allows for its diffusion to many people at once who care to listen. What sort of media was available for individuals or groups to diffuse the plight of the black Zimbabwean when the british were seizing everything they knew, in real time as we have now?

I beleive they call your stance looking at the world with rose colered eyeglasses (shades, whatever), this phenomena, I have noticed, is exhibted to a its highest degree by ignorant conservative types, such as yourself, who fail to grasp the significance of historical events.

To be sure, history is being made in Venezuela, as we each write our messages. If the effects of Colonialism are to be corrected in a manner that will better represent the populations that suffer its effects, better for you to stay tuned to the acts of the Bolivarian Revolution than to affix your gaze afar towards Africa.

Congrats on the blog. Suffer.

Gravatar Pulpo,

I do not think Renagade is who you think.... From the blog it does not look like it.

SR. good points. I do not know if they have looked into that or what the cost would be. But it would be something to consider. Just suffice it to say I was stunned to by the quality of what they did. Driving from Barquisimeto to Caracas I saw lots of similiar developments, particularly in Carabobo. From the outside they do look very similiar to what I stayed in. People who were with me commented that the areas had been slum housing before and were now being upgraded.

Gravatar Pulpo,

Are you seriously trying to justify Robert Mugabe's actions against his own fellow black Africans? Mugabe & Chavez are the best of friends and allies.

Gravatar "Are you seriously trying to justify Robert Mugabe's actions..."

Yes and No. One needs to consider what has brought about the radical actions of the Zimbabwean government in the light of the coutnries history in order to formulate an informed opinion on the matter. As one who denounces colonialist, in all its facets with regard to Venezuela, I expected you to understand the implications of the cultural and nationalistic sentiments that drive the land reform issue in Zimbabwe - please do not disapoint me.

Gravatar Very interesting. I am curious in how cost efficient the water tank system really is though, compared to piping.

Gravatar Your site gets better every time I visit. Keep up the good work. costruire serra grimaldi navigazione elenco dispositivi

Gravatar Only problem is Chavez has build less houses in 8 years than Calderda did in one year.

And those houses have been more expensive.

Done the Venezuelan way, spend a little building.. steal the rest.

Gravatar "Only problem is Chavez has build less houses in 8 years than Calderda did in one year."

False, last year the Venezuelan government built more houses than any hear in almost two decades:

Gravatar is anyone of you have any idea what the hausing project where in the past? there where none the poor just dint have any right. it no may be the best but what it was before this is heaven if no ask someone who got its hause for free yes free.

Gravatar ow, no offense, but the source for that is the "ministrio para la vivienda", very trustworthy

Take out the houses build in cuba, Nicaragua etc and you might have real numbers.

Gravatar Rustic Living Room Furniture sets augment the overall beauty of any room. With various room decoration items and gadgets flooding the market, it may sometimes be very confusing as what furniture’s to select for your living rooms - furniture’s which suit your tastes, match your room's environment and of course meet your budget! However, rustic furniture sets have an all-time appeal because of their simple yet versatile designs and light-weight (can easily be shifted from one room to other). http://rustic-living-room-furniture.blogspot.com

Gravatar Another piece of fluff. I am happy SOMEONE in Venezuela is getting housing. Great! But do not negate the fact that this governments record on housing is nothing short of abysmal compared to the IV republic.

However, Mr. Chavez is all about building houses in OTHER countries while his own countrymen still live in substandard housing.

Any government should first look to its OWN citizens before even giving one bolivar to others.

Gravatar I still don't get it.... are you for or against Chavez???

Alright, I have to accept you did a good job for this article, but I can't stop thinking you came to my country just to make fun of it!!!!

G'day to all!
