Flanker, last time I went to Valencia I saw a street that was cleaner than in 1989. Shall I send you the picture?
Plaza Venezuela was functioning in 1995 actually. How old are you?
Did you know Hugo arrive in power not yesterday but in Feb 1999?

Potholes all over the country, but thank goodness there's something shiny and sparkling in the plaza.

Thank you for this lovely entry.
Now, may we discuss Benavides, Colombia war, the car industry closing, the ever present crime, etc...
I went to see the Plaza Venezuela. It was all red all the time, with music by Ali Primera and other revolutionary sing song. Maybe you could tell us if there is a special schedule for non chavista? After all Maduro told us that the opposition was not allowed on Bolivar Square anymore.

If only the rest of the streets around it were as pretty.

I suggest you go to Margarita and see the great job Morel Rodríguez has done. Rubbish not collected; Playa el Agua the same as 15 years ago. Roads not too bad but generally still a mess.
Even allowing for the financial crisis it's a small wonder that Margarita has lost 70% of its foreign tourists this year.

Very nice post!. I love that plaza and it was a shame to see it abandon for so long. The video is great, love the lights and music.
