Re: dessert - we always have chocolate fondue at Christmas. It's quick, easy, festive and "convivial", and who doesn't love a bowlful of melted chocolate?! You can buy pots at Casa in Cormontreuil for 5 euros.

Good luck with food preparation and enjoy the Christmas meals!
It's been nice to virtually walk into your home, guided by the descriptions and looking at the pictures.

Hi Oiseau
All the best for 2007!
I hope your Christmas & New Year went swimmingly. You get extra marks for improvising when recipes go wrong, you know.

That turkey would have totally given me the willy nillies too. I guess a ham would have been even worse, though, eh?

It all looks lovely. I always have the butcher cut the head and feet off our turkey-or I buy one already stuffed and ready to go at Picard.

I've never heard Delia's name mentioned in quite that way before. Usually I hear it in awed whispers or loud praise. Personally, while I think she is a great cook, I feel that her recipes are sometimes complicated than they need to be. I've been working on a French recipe book (online) where I try to take a striped-down approach to recipes and I find that my simplist recipes get a lot more visits than my more complicated ones. Also find that the dessert recipes get almost as many visits as all the other recipes put together.

The undeniable beauty of parquet flooring is financially out of reach for many people. A cost comparison between replacing the old worn out wall to wall carpeting and installing parquet flooring will show that the parquet choice is less expensive if you install it yourself.
If you don't have sub flooring which can be sanded and varnished, you might consider do it yourself parquet flooring. Eight or twelve inch squares of finished oak are available in several shades of stain from dark walnut like oak to pale natural tones. The wood grain is preserved in all finishes and the final clear coat will stand up to most traffic.
