Gravatar Hhmmmm...and this is in light of the fact greedy, corrupt Corporations and their owners give political donations to greedy corrupt Repub politicians to subvert our laws and morals, plus forcing their employees to ALSO give money to the Corporate candidates? Literally having to pay for their jobs? And decent wages....hmmmm....scratching my head...and WHO IS CORRUPT? Are you trying to deny citizenship to journalists?!?!!! Why you ole buzzards. I'd hate to be in your stingy crooked shoes when ur Karma comes back to you. BTW; biblically speaking that is the same as: "Reaping what you sow!" Just remember, if you die in your sins you go to hell, might want to read the bible once before that happens.....Have a great day.

Gravatar Wow! Nancy, you are soooooooo intelligent! Actually, I am taken aback by your ignorance. The issue is that NEWS should be objective. Do you know the meaning of that word? How can you possibly expect a newsroom to provide factual, unbiased coverage of issues when 90 percent of the reporters are not only liberal, but give their money to liberals? How do you expect universities to produce objective minded journalists when journalism professors are even more liberal than journalists? Do you actually think that this isn't a problem?

Gravatar BTW Nancy, if you believe in "karma" perhaps YOU should re-read the Bible if you think that you are not going to hell. I've got news for you, sister, "the road is narrow," and if you think any religion that substitutes karma and deeds over faith in Christ is going to get you there, you are in trouble.

Gravatar As a journalist who regularly makes political contributions, a couple of points:

1. Any journalist anywhere who claims to be personally objective does not belong in the business. When a child is murdered, do you really believe the child killer deserves equal compassion with the dead child? The key is to provide balanced, fair news coverage.

2. The key is disclosure. Anyone who knows me, or Larry Wade, or others you could name, knows we are politically active and generally support Democrats. My readers certainly know it. The problem is publishers such as Lorton who hide their contributions, make them in kind, and do them through various shells while slanting news coverage to promote their hidden agendas.

3. I'd much rather read political commentary from someone whose biases are clear than one who claims to have no political opinions. Political commentaries by those who are politically neutral is akin to eating gruel--it may keep you alive, but it won't add much to your life.

4. Not all us Democrats are gentle to fellow Democrats. In fact, getting taken to the woodshed by a Democratic publisher leaves a much sorer hind-end than being taken there by a Republican.

And if we really want to eliminate bias, I hope we have also looked at church membership, involvement in childrens' school activities, hobbies (hunting, fishing, coin collecting, etc.). All those can create biases. In fact, part of the disconnect between the "mainstream media" and the average citizen is that too many of the media types exult in avoiding normal everyday activities that might somehow display "bias."
