Gravatar I agree that it is important and I *HOPE* that the memo gets released and that Boris Johnson publishes it in defiance of its prohibition.

This revelation is great in that it lets slip the mask and reveals yet another insane episode in the Bush presidency.

I don't think that it is actionable, however, as the attack on al-Jazeera never happened. I would assume that the government is allowed to and does plan for every type of attack imaginable on every target imaginable. Talking about something and following through on it are thankfully two very different things.

That being said, the Bush Administration has set some new precedents by persecuting people for allegedly thinking about terrorist acts, researching terrorist acts or talking about terrorist acts. This gets a bit tough as it is a good thing that we can take action against somebody who is perceived to be a threat and is caught with unmistakable bomb making tools/supplies in his garage.

But this is a slippery slope. The fact that somebody has visited certain internet sites or read certain books or listened to certain kinds of music should NOT be actionable. These types of issues have apparently been being abused at times in the US since 9/11. It is almost as if they can turn anyone into a suspected terrorist if they try hard enough. I remember reading somewhere about a suspected terrorist who had "night vision goggles" in his house. Well, I've got a pair of night vision goggles, too, and so do tens of thousands of non-terrorist sportsmen around the country.

F Bush.
