$\"Gravatar\"$ I would argue a bit about that deep hole in Texas...I have worked on some drilling rigs that put down a hole over 16,000 feet...and that was in Oklahoma. I have read of some 20,000 ft stuff in other places..the Russians were using air bits to put down some extremely deep holes some years back...
