Gravatar This hits a little close to home. I can't disclose too much since I operate under anonymity but any call has the potential to be deadly and it saddens me to see things being treated as routine. I am sure this was not the case here but as a police dispatcher, I can't tell you the amount of times I hear officers joking while responding to a call that could very well be their last.

Gravatar It is, indeed, close to home. My dad lives on Riceflower, just a few streets further in, and one of our family friends lives on the same street this incident occurred on.

I have a close friend who is a CID for Chambers County, and I'll be contacting him today for further details, because what was not reported, by the media, but by people at the scene, is that this guy...a former Kenefick police officer, also "allegedly" had a cache of weapons, ammo and explosive devices, prompting the calling of the local bomb squad. I'd like to find this out for myself, since no mention of anything else has come out.

Gravatar Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Our thanks to that Deputy for holding that thin blue line.
