I saw that one - hilarious! I think we find it funny because it's so outrageous.

"If we saw someone like that in real life, it wouldn't be funny at all..." We know---some of the old inbred families around here are like that!

sbgypsy - Ah, I think you're right. That particular skit, that's linked, is enhanced by the dialogue. Goodness, it really is outrageous
mandt - Hmm, that would be embarrassing, I think. I know doctors like to prescribe pills. We read and hear about patients being overdosed, quite often. A friend of mine always takes the current prescriptions along to the doc, just to make sure there won't be any strange reactions.

OWL, are you saying that blue eye shawdow is out?!?I'm sooo out of the loop here in East Jesus. Not that I would wear that stuff. I think wearing makeup is a sin.

Missouri Mule - Hee hee, no, I'm not saying blue eye shadow is out, but it might be, I'm not really much into fashion. I vaguely remember wearing it, way back in the day. I've was under the assumption that one should wear it on both eyelids, though
gerard valz - Thank you. I wish all the same to you. I'm glad to hear from you. I hope all is well. Franklin is a 20 pounder. Apparently, he's a lot like his ole auntie. We both like to eat!

I hope this doesn't mean that your crew are are strike for more string and cat treats.
Franklin is a handsome rouge.
I think there's a rule in the South that blue eye shadow is reserved for politicians and preachers.

Bryan - Well, we shall see on Friday, won't we? I guess if I don't post a picture of one of the five that live here, either I'm mad at them, or they're mad at me...or maybe I managed to snap some really cool other animal pictures. Thank you, I think he's a beauty.
As to the blue eye shadow, I think you're on to something!

http://blog-me-no-blogs.blogspot.com.
I get free basic cable.
I was pissed when I realized "X-Files" was such a great show. I had missed the whole thing, except for re-runs. Just quit watching the tube.
So I got two cheap VCRs recently and started taping the first three episodes of every new show. When I have time, at odd hours, I watch them, zipping through the ads. If I like a show and it stays on the air, I keep taping.
I don't have much time for TV either, especially not during "prime time." But there are a few really good shows on, better than most movies, and free. The writing is really much better than it used to be on some of the better series. So, when it's time to space out . . .

cosanostradamus - Yeah, I know what you mean about the X-Files. I, too, didn't catch on that it was such a good show at the beginning. The reception didn't come in very good and my sister taped shows for me to view. Sometimes I got to watch X-files, sometimes not. I was having a doozy of a time getting her to tape The Pretender for me. She had tons of taped stuff, but it was stuff I wasn't really interested in. Wade through all that, get to a good show, fast forward the commercials. It took a while to get through the tapes
That's a good idea, taping the first three, then you know if it's stupid or not.

Yeah, I know what you mean about wading through stuff. In the Fall, I end up with a LOT of six-hour videotapes, full up.
But another advantage to this method of teleholism is that, when the idiots at the networks inevitably cancel the good shows, I don't ever even have to start watching them.
I really got tired of investing my time in good shows, by proven creators like the guys from the X-Files and the Simpsons, that the Nets would then yank in favor of some utter rubbish which would then, in turn, disappear.
Most of the best shows, the classics, took time to catch on. If they don't give them the time, you end up with nothing but flash-in-the-pan junk that appeals, temporarily, to a large but lame and fickle audience, but has no aesthetic, re-run or videotape sale value. They owe us more for the free use of our airwaves.
Speaking of which, some of the good basic-cable Net shows are available in full, without commercials, for free on their websites. It's pretty cool, actually.
I know you like mysteries: Check out "Monk" on the USA network. Or "The Closer," on TNT network. Some shows are also available as downloads for a buck or two on "I-Tunes," etc. Then there's the seasonal series compilations for sale or rent at your local video store. Or, you could just fine-tune the cats...

cosanostradamus - I was thinking of investing in the Seinfeld series. I always enjoyed watching them. I watched Monk when it was on regular tv. It was good. I was glad when it was picked up by another channel. I like the guy who plays Monk. He played the taxi driver on Wings. He also had a short lived very funny show, with Dougie Houser, but I can't think of the name of it. He was a writer...Ah, yes...Stark Raving Mad. His name was Stark. I taped Grey Feather with my camera, but you're right, I need to fine-tune the taping.

Yeah, Tony Shalhoulb is funny. One of my favorite Arab comedians. (Mubarek is funny, too, when he does that Egyptian walk.) I liked "Wings." I missed "Stark Raving Mad." Didn't know "Monk" had been on broadcast TV.
You should put the kitties on You-Tube. You'd all be famous!

cosanostradamus - Hmmmm... I'm not so sure I want to do that. My cats might let it go to their heads. They'll think they need to move to Beverly Hills. Then, they'll spend all day and night playing with the catnip. Next thing we know, we'll be reading about them needing to dry out at rehab.
