There's no need to rush into anything. He could just tuck his feet underneath and lower his head, which would cover up most of it.
He obviously wants to do some more planning before getting carried away.
Or perhaps he could shift to the dappled sunbeams filtering through the leaves of a tree. I bet that's what he's practicing for -- dappled sunshine.

Bryan - Yeah, he's working on it. One day, it will be perfect. He likes your ideas, though. He's not sure if he can tuck himself around like that. He is a cat, so it shouldn't be too hard!
Badtux - Ah, the dappled trees and sunlight. That would work very well, if he could get outside. He's working on that, too
Steve Bates - Yes! He has the conviction that he can transform the whole coloration. He figures the stripes just match the carpet. Especially if someone has left fur around... like cats do.
Fixer - Your boy is dealing with everything pretty well. The kitten has become an annoying little pest to the adult kitties, but they're putting up with it. Mango gets that expensive liver food and likes to share with his crummy girlfriend. I have to keep pushing her away. The kitten wants his food, and so does Lady Fortuna. I have to watch them all like a hawk! Hope you had a good weekend, too.
I don't see any kittah----must be perfect camouflage.
